Thanks, but I’m I probably among the many who never anticipated that type of score! What a game!
(2 Yards short of Gronkowski scoring the 1st TD.)
So who’s defense dominated that game? And I mean Dominated!
Belichick is a master when it comes to a defensive game plan.
Congratulations to the Patriots and their dynasty continues!

That 10-1 was so very close!
Not sure what happened to Gurley but I expect he is already in surgery for his knee. Expected more out of the Rams but their explosiveness waned the last half of the season.
The last two Superbowls prior to this one against Atlanta and Philly were not defensive gems by any means. Pat's secondary was a strong point the last 5 games. Rams defense played very well too after the offense was punting after 4 or 5 plays for eight straight possessions in the first half
As much as it pains me , I do respect and congratulate the Patriots . Sick that they tied the Steelere for most Superbowls.

Small win?
I doubt that legal sports books did very well on SB 53.
The reason being that they hung a questionable number.
Sure, they rake it in on props and parlay cards, etc.
That nearly always happens.
The favorite and over is usually bad for books.
This year, though, the under got solid support from the opening bell.
Opening NE -1, or 1.5, was asking for trouble.
I think they got it, too.
One way traffic from public and sharps alike.
Until it hit -3. Then the Rams money appeared.
The first week probably took the smile off the bookmakers faces, though.
It took way too much Patriot money to get that line to a solid number.

This game has sealed Belichick as the greatest football coach of all time.
Holding that Rams offense to 3 points is crazy unbelievable greatness. They had Goff so flummoxed he could barely complete a pass.
While tough for viewing, it was a masterpiece of his coaching brilliance.
Congrats to the Pats yet again.

A surprise for me was the pressure the Pats put on Goff. They were in his face all game long. In this offensive age it was Defense that won. Good to see.

How many Super Bowls have there been where the best defense loses?
I bet you could count them on one hand.
Football games are won in the trenches.
Especially big ones.

It wasn't so much pressure as it was the back 7 matching up with the Rams receivers.
They simply didn't have guys open.
Goff simply wasn't good enough to make the decisions and throws necessary to win the game. And Belichick made it all about Goff making those throws and decisions.

Their pass rush was crazy good. I haven't seen the box score, but wish I had overs on QB sacks/hits/hurries by Pats defense. Rams had 60 offensive plays. They moved the ball forward on 33 of them. The game was won by the Patriots in the Ram's backfield.

Defense meaning low scoring not necessarily the best . Last year was what 41-34 the year before was 34 28 I think. Hardly low scoring . 13-3 is Defense by both sides.
Your spot on about winning in the trenches Brady sacked Once in the 3 playoff games . Their O line was tremendous. That coach is the best in the league.

Please, Tony Romo, couldn't you root just a little harder for the Rams??
His commentary was, by far, the most biased I can recall from any network talking head since Summerall and Brookshire quietly slipped on cowboy hats before doing any Dallas game and then moaned Harvey Martin's name all afternoon with a love and awe generally reserved for Jesus Christ (and Tom Durkin's Cigar calls).
And the normally objective Jim Nance should likewise be ashamed of his increasingly desperate pro-rams play-by-play.
A pox on both their houses for an horrendous outing.

Feeling a bit better about my comments regarding Goff before the Saints game.
He's great when the run game and play action game are working. Quick fake and hit your guy down the seam.
When it comes to making throws downfield and to the sidelines, he ain't much.
Doesn't make anything happen on broken plays or bad protection.
He's the product of an genius coach.
On another note:
This was the Anti-Bowl, the game that never should have been, and it showed.

Every positive streaking stat that Romo and Nance brought up immediately halted the streak... The Jinx Boys at their finest...

Goff dropped back 42 times, was hit 12 times for 4 sacks.
Brady dropped back 36 times, was hit 4 times for 1 sack.
I can't find hurries, but a defensive back was running full speed at Goff when he clearly threw off his back foot on that hanging interception inside the Pat's 5 yard line. That's 1 anyway.
I would have guessed before the game that the hits/sacks numbers would have been vice versa.
Boy, the Patriots made this post season run via good old fashion trench warfare. Brady really never did anything super extraordinary this year. Heck, he even made a couple of mistakes that could be called un-Brady like during this post season.
I feel like this championship might be more a Bill Belichick championship than a Tom Brady championship. Jimmy Garoppolo may have been able to win that game.

I was watching NFL Playbook show last week and they showed how the Patriots run their plays. So many teams play zone defense (which often results in blown coverage that gives up a huge play), the Patriots play good old fashioned man to man coverage. On offense, the Patriots use the fullback to lead block on almost every running play, very old school. They showed how the fullback takes out one linebacker, and Gronk takes out another.
Like Lombardi's great Packer teams, Belichick's teams do the fundamentals better. They don't miss blocks, they don't miss tackles, they don't make stupid mistakes, and they beat teams that have way more talent than they do. It's pretty amazing.
