Longshot - I have a few tickets on my desk and just checked the back. Sportech tickets from Favorites states pari-mutual tickets shall expire 6 months from date of issue. Vouchers issued after May 25, 2006 shall expire 3 years from date of issue. But like others have stated, it depends on the state you are in and probably also the company who services each facility.

Winstar is located in Oklahoma, it appears.

Is the ticket on a wager that was co-mingled into the host track, or does Winstar book the bet? You might have a case for a co-mingled bet, but if the casino books it and their policy is 120 days, you're probably SOL....

I have a friend who got paid, after the fact, on some bets that were 'booked' by the casino on tickets that ran out of time. He's a good customer and it wasnt an obscene amount.

If someone told him that he had a year, hopefully he remembers who that was who told him this. I still think they gotta pay him the ticket has no expiration date printed on the back. There's really no reason for them to NOT have an expiration date, vegas casinos all have drop dead dates as do pari mutuel tickets at most track in the USA.

Hard to believe they're going to hard ball him for 67 bucks.

There is no physical address to mail them to for reimbursement?
If not, find out the address of your state's attorney general an file a formal complaint.

Now that I ponder this some more, I'm guessing this is a co-mingled wager, since even if the OTB was closed for remodeling, the main cashier's cage should have been able to cash the ticket on his first return trip.

Or, at least that's how it used to work in Vegas back in the old days for late hour cashing of sports and racebook wagers.

So now the question might be what state the track is located for the winning wager? It could be the bet isn't in the system anymore that's readily accessible, but there should be an address to mail the ticket to for cashing, assuming the it hasn't expired by state law....

Saratoga(Last year ticket) Must be presented by march31 of the year following purchase.

Good idea.
They should reimburse you out of good business sense if nothing else, but you never know.

It isn't part of Winstar technically. It is an OTB and money is co-mingled into the track.

Do you think Turfway Park would do anything if I contacted them?

Now I make it back up there and I am told tickets expire in 120 days.(second wasted trip) They said there was nothing they could do, even though the reason I didn't cash before was because they were remodeling and I was told they were good for a year.

Shouldn't a casino somehow make good on such a small amount of money for the sake of customer relations? Lone Star Park has a way of cashing tickets up to a year old.

What would you do in this situation? It isn't a lot of money, but it still mine.
David as a casino employee and former supervisor/shift manager your only shot is to call up the gaming commision of that jurisdiction.....I spent my whole last break trying to find the state and who presides in that jurisdiction I saw a winstar in Oklahoma and one in Michigan.....I can't figure out who governs it

If its a statw gaming commission I don't foresee a problem but if it's a Indian/tribal commision your gonna run into a problem...here is how tribal gaming commissions operate in my experience being I worked at Mohegan sun which is a tribal commision

My opinion how can you have a gaming commission run by your own people it's not neural.....picture for example there is a wrong payment on a $50 dice bet...your brother is the 1 party and some other guy is the other party....who are you gonna rule in favor for?

That's why I never gamble in tribal casinos if I can avoid it...if you hit for 25k on a slot they can claim malfunction and there's nothing you can do the tribal gaming commision will rule against you....and the papers will never see it....it's all a joke!!

So Monday morning call whatever gaming commision is in the area....hope some of this helps

Only a state run commision is neutral.....the former nj casino control commision was there for the gamblers

agreed! lady at my job hit a 10geez jackpot on a slot at winstar no problem they paid up and she was all smiles! they treated her like royalty to get that money back sending her mail free rooms and comps and all that other stuff.so she goes back 3 weeks later with her aunt same machine and hits 4geez talking about being lucky, but her is the kicker she was so pissed because they made her wait 4 hours for her to get paid. true story!

I keep all of my betting records for three years, except pp's.

At tax time before I throw away the stuff from 4 years I review my bets from that year. I get a good perspective of my thought process at that time.

Last year while reviewing the results of a race I saw that I wrote down that a bet I made won but I did not record it as a win. So I flipped through my vouchers and found the winning ticket. Not a large mistake, maybe $50-80 if I remember. I must've put in with my losers by mistake and didn't even catch it when I got home that night.

For kicks and giggles I took to ticket to the track and ran the ticket into the SAM machine which spit it out of course. So I went to a window and said "Look what a dope I am."

The teller took the ticket and said she'd see what she could do. An hour later she paid me on a 3+year old ticket that wasn't cashed by my own mistake.

And yes I tipped her $10 for the free money.

Was I paid because the teller had experience and curiosity to look into it, (a new teller might have just said "Sorry Charlie.") or because I was a good customer, or because the track gods felt sorry for me, which happens once every couple years.

Ah yes, I do remember reading that at some point on the back about the May 25, 2006 date. There is no reason for them to keep printing that (if they still do) since that was 7 years ago and they all expired by now. How old are the ones you have that read this?
