An S 8, or assuming a 'plodder' with top speed points doesn't really make sense.
E0, E1 and E2 do not suggest chase and fade. E means generally Early. The number tallies the early forwardly positions in the last 3 races... up to 5 races if some races have a bye, earning 0 to 8 points for the 3 ratable races. 1 point is automatic, but can be wiped out to become 0. Nothing about running style or speed points has anything to do with fade; it's all about early.

There are Sustained running style horses on all surfaces… hardly rare.

nothing inherent in the speed points to suggest a fading quality, but unless an E1 or whatever has dropped really far to meet their class level, we'll generally be seeing these rare speed point designations in chase and fade styles. They can't get a foothold in races and they're doing their running early.
