A rather substantial budget for fertilizer, weed control and irrigation

Andy, I am a fan of your commentary but this type of attitude is exactly why the rest of the country dislikes New Yorkers.

I'm not seeing anything out of line here.
Just the facts.

An hour between races today?
There was no possible way to change this upcoming hour between races?
Really?
On a day with major stake races, this is embarassing, and surely was avoidable somehow with a modicum of effort
Imagine showing up for stake races and having nothing to do for an hour, and at neglected Aqueduct
How exactly is NY the bastion of racing? Reminds of the famous New Yorker cartoon's map of the world - 50% Manhattan, then 25% New Jersey, and everything else is far away, out of sight, out of mind
The capital of hubris, that's for sure

I barely play NYRA racing these days and it is almost entirely because of the stewards. Apparently nothing can be done about them so until they retire or pass, not much is going to change.

Can we retitle this thread "NYRA Gripes" or something else closer to reality? NYRA's product, like all, could use improvement, but the idea that it has a daily "fiasco" is completely overwrought.

It is true, sadly. I spend way too much work time on this game not to enjoy the time I do get to spend betting, which is still my real passion. And the stewards on the NYRA circuit have ruined too many days for me. I'm sure I'll be back at some point but not yet.

-inconsistent and incompetent steward decisions
-nearly 40 min between races at Saratoga
-small stakes fields
-high takeout especially relative to other gambling games
-surface changes while horses are loading the gate to start a p5/p6
But anyone that criticizes NYRA is a troll or a fool.
