Today's Daily NYRA Fiasco
and now, NYRA decides (understandably) to cancel the jump race this Wednesday, but no, they move it to the 16th, and then move the big jump stake the Jonathan Sheppard, to the 23rd and cancel the subsequent novice stake - why not just cancel the race on Wednesday or run that one later in the meet?
I was planning/hoping to go on the 16th with my wife, our horse finished 2nd in the Sheppard last year - we will now take a pass on the day - had been planning it for some time actually
Wake me up when the Keystone Kops routine at the Spa is over - what a nightmare this meet has been, Thursday at the Spa was a nice day actually (though the turf course did seem a bit off then already), it is all falling apart in a hurry

Maybe you should apply for a job there and solve everyone's problems?
I love watching a man in his element (in your case, raging against NYRA)...but it's gonna get real old real soon

The only thing that counts is handle and attendance.
People vote with their $$$ and their feet...nothing else matters.
You can bitch all you want, but if handle and attendance don't plummet in proportion to your rage, it's all for naught, because the people will have spoken.
And btw, I never said everything is just peachy.

Going Country was owned by Blue Streak Racing LLC, Metahorse Racing, CFC Stables LLC, and Keri Brion in the 2022 Sheppard. In Going Country's most recent start at Percy Warner, he's now owned by Madaket Stables LLC and The International Venture.

I would argue attendance is not all that relevent.
How is handle so far, I havent seen anything reported.

The DRF Chart summaries indicate that this last week (August 2nd-August 6th) handled $101.8M.
Remember that we lost four races this week and the surface switches have had an impact. Handle numbers were slight lower earlier as I recall and usually heat up over the next three weeks of August through the Travers. Hopefully the weather and turf conditions improve.

He doesn't work for us, Craig, and you are ridiculous to even imply it. Seriously.

I read somewhere that attendance was up but handle was down for both on track and all sources. All the off the turf races this year are an obvious major factor for the handle this year. I think last year was also an especially tough compare because the weather was good. It hard to control for that, but I guess someone probably has the data for just dirt races that weren't off the turf this year. That might give us a better idea of what the handle might be like with more average weather.
