Who would be the better date for Winx???

The 2019 Southern Hemisphere breeding season will see the arrival in the Hunter Valley of the only undefeated U.S. Triple Crown winner.

U.S. Horse of the Year in 2018, Justify will stand alongside fellow Triple Crown winner American Pharoah, in what is a huge coup for Australian breeders.

She raced on turf. I wouldn't breed to either dirt sire until they are A) proven to be a top sire, and B) proven to be a top turf sire.

Justify is going to flop in the shed, by the way. AP was the real deal and is passing on that talent. Justify got lucky.

I like the breeding. Sire's female family is known to be "tough and fast"

There is no one-to-one relationship between how a horse does on track and how their progeny turns out. If it were that easy, breeders wouldn't be engaged in the crapshoot they are, year after year. But indeed, AP progeny are doing very well.

FWIW, when asked, Baffert said they should breed Winx to Justify “That would be like breeding the perfect horse to the perfect horse. I can’t imagine the possibilities of what that baby could amount to.” Baffert said when he first looked at Justify’s pedigree he thought he had a turf sprinter.

It is interesting to read Baffert's thoughts on the 2 stallions: I think he favors Jusify in many ways:

I always thought it was interesting that when American Pharoah was in the sales ring, buyers from all around the globe refused to raise their bids past his $300K sales figure...Zayat wanted to validate PON and so he put in the lone "live money" to buy him back.

So--- this were a wager, Heck, I might take Justify....for no other reason than that the odds would be better on that bet.
