Now that all the smart guys of this board are in a generous mood...does anyone have a pick for the 9th at Turf Paradise? I am stuck and trying to get out.

Didn't see this in time for TUP.
Imo, the surface at CTX has a fair amt of moisture in it and is currently going through a drying out process. So far tonight the winners have had outside posts.
With that in mind and a few minutes to go for R6 --

Hey, gus..since Mvr is pretty much the only track I play, i have time most afternoons to scan the odds board from various places and make some quick calculations. And from cursory observation, Tup has GOT to have the highest take-out on EARTH.
So I'm curious, do you show a profit there?
btw, on a corollary note-Dmr has got to be the lowest.

The takeout does suck at TuP but it is one my favorites because you are strictly handicapping horses there-thats it (imo)
Even those old war horses with a lot of starts, that I tend to stay away from as a bettor,I will play them there....mostly because I get the overall impression that they are well cared for, for the most part.

Hi, Mark
I started keeping detailed records of my play as an act of "self-knowledge"...and all it's done is submerge me in an ocean of confusion. I am showing a profit at all the high-takeout tracks that I play...and a loss at all the low-takeout ones. It seems that only the high-takeout tracks offer the types of races that my skills are suited for. Case in point: I've never made a dime at Dmr.

Most of the "high takeout" tracks also offer big rebates, hope you are taking advantage.

The problem is that I always wanted to be the "high-class" sort of player who plies his trade at the game's high-echelon tracks. And now I must confine myself to the outskirts of the game...in places like Pennsylvania, Virginia and Louisiana.

$ is $, no different than winning at the Wynn vs some rundown casino downtown.

True. But still...I have chosen to hang out my shingle at the sportsbook of the Wynn. And I'd love to have you as a guest there one day.

Post Position Study
F.L. Post Position Study_02.xls
Some months ago I was fooling around with Excel to see if I could extract something useful from a Post Position study.............something more than just winners as a percentage of runners per post. I finally struck upon the attached spreadsheet, which is hopefully self-explanatory. The interesting aspects of it for me are:
1) It is a pictorial display rather than just a list percentages, etc,
2) You can get a snapshot of running styles as they relate to post position, size of field,
3) You can easily tell how certain posts (especially outside and next-to-outside posts) fare at certain distances.
4) You can keep a running tally easily, day by day, distance by distance, and by
track conditions.
I would appreciate your constructive criticism. Is it a worthwhile approach, how it can be improved, etc.
