Brian Robert "Mailman" Sodi faces Federal Charges. Had ties to Premier Turf Club

https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-rac...iminal-charges

Excerpts:

PTC general manager Todd Bowker said Sodi, of Boca Raton, Fla., hasn't been a partner with the ADW since 2010. But, filings with regulators in Kentucky and Florida suggest ties between Sodi and PTC may have continued into at least 2016.
-------
"He is facing a lengthy prison sentence and millions of dollars in penalties," U.S. Attorney Town wrote in the government's response to the request to modify Sodi's conditions of release. "He lives on the east coast of Florida, only a short ferry ride from the Bahamas and other offshore havens. He also owns a luxury resort home on the southern Pacific coast of Nicaragua. In short, he has every incentive to flee and the financial resources to remain a fugitive."

If/When a guy like this cooperates to lessen any potential jail time you never know what might come out.

The 10-count indictment doesn't list any connection to Premier Turf Club
I think this is important to highlight before people let their imaginations run wild. It's a safe bet that the SEC went over all of Sodi's business associations with a fine-toothed comb, and they found no reason to make any mention of PTC.

Clearly there is a past relationship between Sodi and Todd, but the only recent "ties" that the article mentions are a (presumably outdated) mailing address filed with the KHRC, and a mutual acquaintance who is linked to both PTC and Sodi's other businesses.

The whole thing reads like Frank Angst doing his best Robert Mueller impersonation, and it feels like a reach. Not sure how much Todd can comment (if at all) in this forum, but I'm absolutely giving him the benefit of the doubt unless something more tangible comes to light.

Only one thing worse than the penny stock con men and other fraudsters.

The regulators who let the scams flourish for YEARS, when even the dumbest stock trader knows its a con.

I'm happy to address the ownership of PTC, and hopefully clear up the misconceptions in the BloodHorse story.

Brian Sodi was one of the original partners in Premier Turf Club, LLC and provided startup capital to get the company going. Our current owner, Wes Berman was also an original partner.

Initially I was hired as a consultant to PTC in July of 2010. When our previous GM resigned from the company that October, I was asked to take over running the company, and became GM on November 17th. During the transition period, I was informed by Brian and Wes that they were in the process of negotiating an agreement for Wes to buy out Brian's share of the company, so that Wes would be the sole shareholder moving forward. The purchase of Brian's interest was completed a couple of months later.

After it was completed, I received copies of the Sales Agreement and the Membership Resolution, both of which confirm Brian has no further interest in the company. There is also a subsequent Florida corporate filing dated April 27, 2011 which shows Brian was removed as the Managing Member.

Those documents were reviewed by the Kentucky Racing Commission's counsel when we filed our 2012 application. PTC also underwent an update to our TRPB background report in the fall of 2012, which included notifying them of the ownership change. Every license application we have filed in Oregon (and elsewhere) since 2011 has listed Wes Berman as the sole shareholder of PTC.

We are obviously disappointed with the BloodHorse story, but the facts of the matter are that Brian Sodi hasn't had any operational control over PTC since the fall of 2010, and the purchase of his equity interest was completed in January of 2011.

Wes Berman remains our sole shareholder, and is the only person I have ever reported to since I became GM.

What I really like about this is that you took the time to respond.

Bloodhorse story reporting has been flawed for some time now
