I see you still don't get it, as summed up in your statement above. Trump has NEVER said he wants free trade. He has always stated that he wants fair trade, and if that gets us free trade, then all the better. Is a 270% tariff on our dairy products fair to you? Is it free trade in your book? I'd like you to honestly answer those two questions.

Sooo..., I can only assume your are 100% fine with tariffs on our goods shipped to other countries, but not on tariffs on goods we import?

Would that be correct?

Is a 25% tax on all light trucks and vans fair in your book?

We can parrot examples all day long except mine aren't paltry dairy concerns like the presidents which account for around a whopping total of $600 million.

Furthermore, if you want to get technical US farm subsidies are a form of price regulation. They are determined by product not overall farm profitability like Canada. Those would considered a price fixing trade violation. Farmers are getting paid for any surplus whether they sell it at the fixed price, consume it, or destroy it. Our agriculture system is a defacto example of the EXACT things we claim unfair in our partners.

You gotta do better than the presidents typical ammo... it doesn't hold water.

I'm not a fan of tariffs in general. I'm a free trader.

The problem is that trade really isn't that unfair. We still have some tariffs in place as do other countries. I would look into eliminating those not creating new ones.

Trumps comments on total unrestricted free trade were a startling departure from what he and his supporters have been hawking for months.

I think it is very fair to say the final product is not even close, until such time I give the President all the latitude in the world and you none. I think getting there some birds are going to get their feathers uneven, I could care less about them.

"No tariffs, no barriers, that's the way it should be, and no subsides, I even said not tariffs."

- Donald Trump

That's a pretty big pivot for you guys. I agree the above. Make it make sense with what you've all been espousing... this should be good...

And that is the part that always gets me.

Why do people even remotely believe that his beginning game is what his end game will be?

Also too bad we didn't sign TPP as that would have opened up Canada's dairy markets.

Because, according to his own statements, he has about 4 or 5 different endgames.

That would be 6 actually. One for each day of the week, with Sunday off for golf.

And because he has only one playbook.

The madman strategy is great for placing an enemy on their back foot. Our allies, on the other hand, are looking for steadfast. And getting treated the same as if they were North Korea.

For those keeping score recently:

EU:

Mexico free trade agreement reached.

Australia free trade agreement reached.

Japan free trade agreement reached.

US:

Pulls out of TPP

Pulls out of JCPOA

Violates NAFTA

Levies Tariffs on allies.

That's because the EU folk don't know how to play him like the Chinese and the NorKs do. Which bloc is getting along better with The Donald these days, East or West? Who looks to get hurt and upset more by tariffs, our "allies" or our "enemies"?

These United States are going to do very well, those who have heavy positions in emerging markets are going to get slaughtered and it is on them that Hillary did not win.
