Break up the Triple Crown!

FOX has gotten the Belmont Stakes away from NBC.
Is this a good deal for US as bettors?

Not sure it makes a difference but I think the Fox hosts will be much better for the people gambling.

I don't think it will be long before NBC is out of the Horse Racing coverage business. They seem much more interested in coverage of other sports that don't garner ratings.

I think it will be better for fans of Racing...but like you, Andy...not sure how much of an overall difference it will make.

FOX, to me, understands what racng is.
NBC seems think is about some hockey puck making picks.

Anybody with Dish tv can not get NBC anymore. So more people will be able to watch with Fox having it.

NONE, not a one in the staff of any of the networks knows how to show a horse race.

SIMPLE: go to the track feed, show the first part of the race by the lower pan, and when they get to about the 3/4 pole, switch (like all the tracks do for the public) to a split screen showing the upper and lower pans together. Then when the field gets to about the 5/8ths, go back to the lower pan only.

THAT IS WHAT THE FANS ARE USED TO...The way they show it now, they change camera angles (one year counted 14) so often, that ANYONE (seasoned fan or rookie) could NOT follow the horses as a unit, IMPOSSIBLE.

Eliminate the idiots that don't know a fetlock from a martingale from doing the "color" commentary.

That is the THREE EIGHTHS POLE not the 5/8ths when the double screen comes down

Network TV is not showing races for all us degenerates to record and replay and watch for subtle changes in race flow or pace or whatever. They are showing them for the non-race fan who might momentarily be interested in the outcome of a sporting event. So you don't need in-depth handicapping insights or deep-dish ticket management. Just sanitize it for the masses and we here will all be all right. I don't know of any social sidelight with regards to the Belmont (unlike the Derby, of course), but if there is one, and it gets some attention, so what?

I'm pretty sure we'll get Maggie and Acacia and Kinchen and maybe Andy and so forth, so no need for hand-wringing and teeth-gnashing over network coverage of horse racing.

Too funny.

The fact is Andy was great 10 years ago when Harvey brought out the best in him. Andy was razor sharp at the AQU-Inner meet and was well worth the listen.
Field sizes were decent back then and Andy had an enthusiastic energy analyzing the NYRA cards.

Well, Harvey's gone...AQU-Inner is gone, and the bigger field sizes are gone.

It's not Andy's fault....but it is what it is.

If I make a reply to Andy's quips, it doesn't mean that I'm a jerk.

Lighten up.

Harvey? He hasn't worked at NYRA in over 20 years.

Funny stuff.

Hey, at least I was, apparently, good once. Better than most.
