This thread was started by somebody who had no problem with an ex KKK EXALTED CYCLOPS sitting in Congress most of his life as a DEMOCRAT until he finally croaked, what was it, 8 years ago now?

No problem whatsoever...never once started a thread on it...

But some obscure ****ing ****job who somehow got on a ticket where nobody else was running is the big lead story here in off-topic, just because the empty ticket was the (R) ticket.

If it was the GREEN TICKET or the COMMUNIST TICKET, nary a word would have been written here about this obscure ****ing ****job who has absolutely zero chance of winning anything.

This is Jones eighth attempt to run for Congress starting in 1984, all as a Republican, all the previous times he lost in the primary. So it wasn't him seeing an opportunity to fill an empty void., this has been an ambition of his for a long time. And this "nutjob" out foxed the Republican party, as previously they kept trying to go all Bernie Sanders on him and find technical reasons to bounce him off the ballot, this time, he brought his collected signatures to get on the ballot an hour before the deadline, THEN he started his campaign. He also got over 20,000 votes in this primary which means that this district either has a lot of people who agree with him or they just vote the party ticket without finding out about the candidate.I'll be magnanimous and say it's the latter because that's the way I is.

Quick question:Why criticise H4C for not starting a thread on Robert Byrd, since you keep bringing his name up on a regular basis? Seems redundant.

Because I hope it pisses a lot of Democrats off to see the hypocrisy in action.

You are obsessed with Robert Byrd. He left the Klan in the early fifties yet here you are yammering on about it 68 years later.

Here is the statement put out by the NAACP on the occasion of Byrd's death.
The NAACP is saddened by the passing of United States Senator Robert Byrd. Byrd, the longest serving member of congress was first elected to the U.S. House from [West Virginia] in 1952 and was elected Senator in 1958. Byrd passed away this morning at the age of 92.
“Senator Byrd reflects the transformative power of this nation,” stated NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous. “Senator Byrd went from being an active member of the KKK to a being a stalwart supporter of the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act and many other pieces of seminal legislation that advanced the civil rights and liberties of our country.
“Senator Byrd came to consistently support the NAACP civil rights agenda, doing well on the NAACP Annual Civil Rights Report Card. He stood with us on many issues of crucial importance to our members from the reauthorization of the Voting Rights Act, the historic health care legislation of 2010 and his support for the Hate Crimes Prevention legislation,” stated Hilary O. Shelton, Director of the NAACP Washington Bureau and Senior Vice President for Advocacy and Policy. “Senator Byrd was a master of the Senate Rules, and helped strategize passage of legislation that helped millions of Americans. He will be sorely missed.”

People change. They are capable of recognizing when they are wrong and when they need to change their actions and beliefs. Byrd did this. Conservatives on this forum are clearly incapable.

The dope voted AGAINST the Civil Rights act...you Dems can spin ANYTHING...

Byrd was a ****ing racist KLANSMAN...and you supported him...Hillary supported him (he was her MENTOR), and even Obama supported him, unbelievably enough. They all had such nice things to say about him when he finally croaked.

Who cares what the NAACP has to say about him. They're another tool of the DEMS who can't be trusted.

The point is, you clowns get all happy clappy when some obscure ****ing Nazi wannabe gets on some stupid congressional primary ballot, basically on a technicality, and a clown spins this as the GOP has somehow endorsed him as one of their own, when nothing could be further from the truth. He might as well be running for dogcatcher it's that obscure.

But a former EXALTED CYCLOPS in the KKK sits in the Senate half his life as a Democrat and none of you clowns says a word about it.

Mosty just said a few words about it, didn't he? Words that show your never-ending Byrd obsession is a joke?

You'd actually have a point if Byrd continued to be an active member of the KKK while sitting in Congress. He wasn't. He renounced them. He did work contrary to their cause and beliefs for decades, as the NAACP statement says.

That's why everyone ignores your Byrd blather. It makes no sense.

Are you referring to former republican governor George Ryan who served time in prison for corruption?
Maybe you are talking about Republican Congressman and Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert, who went to jail for financial fraud related to sexual abuse of minors.

Or, is it Republican representative Daniel Crane who was censured by the House for an inappropriate sexual relationship with a 17 year old male page.

Aaron Schock, a republican Congressman from downstate Illinois had to resign his seat after excessive spending and a lavish lifestyle funded by public money was revealed.

There are more.

I honestly think bringing this stuff up is largely ridiculous. Byrd or Thurmond.

Parties aren't static... look at the face of the GOP right now.

A guy who has been a registered democrat most of his life and whose family couldn't vote for him in their home state primary bbecause they were too...
