Pretty crazy.
Moomey is an NHC champion and obviously a well known handicapper.

Yeah, but c'mon. The rules to this form of a contest were written in a way that could be had. Of course, one of sharper handicappers is going to figure out how to beat a set up like that. As soon as i read this story i saw holes in this game. For the kind of money it costs and the money up for grabs, I don't see how people didn't complain BEFORE this happened! It took me all of a couple of minutes to figure out what people were doing.
There are fools defending it, saying "they still had to pick them all".......Yes, for the cashing entries that's 100% true. But when one batter is allowed 2 strikes and these people form a "crew" buying 4, 5, or 6 strikes then they have the luxury of taking penalties with a couple of swings while playing the others. They are shooting with a shotgun, literally spreading out vs. everyone else with a single shot .22 caliber.
I hope they learned lesson, its partially the organizers fault for allowing no limit with penalties for skipping races. The format was ripe for people to pool money and work as a team. Its one of the things i don't like about these contests. Anyone can look like a "top handicapper" these days when they are live with 3 or 4 horses in a short field. I said it was collusion from the start, didn't know if they would have the balls to call it though. And, if that fails one can then hammer their best bet of the day by holding back and paying a penalty.....jeez.....lol

You seem to be attacking the winner for being smart by knocking him along with the people who did cheat.

Got it, I figured you couldn't see the Twitter posts but I'd rather ask than assume.

Totally agree - nothing more than a "slap on the wrist" was handed down and did very little in trying to deter the rampant cheating that occurs at most tournaments. Personally, I have just about giving up fighting this - no longer fun for me to invest my time and money traveling around just to have to bang heads with "teams","beards" and "wives".

There was close to a 0% chance I'd ever play these tournaments before, it is less than zero now.
