Cheap NYRA Camera's

I get the NYRA feed on my cable system. I notice that some of the camera's , in particular the warmup and race camera produce a very washed out picture.

The paddock camera is better.

Anyone else seeing this, makes it very hard to get a good read on the horses.

Maybe someone can answer this. What are the logistics towards high-definition television?

Eventually it will happen, so what are they waiting for?

The item of new digital cameras for NYRA tracks came up at the community review meeting last week. It's a to-do on their short list when the VLT/Slot money rains down upon upon all.

One of the least troubling upgrades, IMHO, under review. Not sure if I want to see additional buildings, with AC...

The one thing that i don't like about Saratoga is the 'low' camera angle. I think you would get a better backstretch and far turn 'perspective' if the camera was higher up in the sky.

But, maybe that's just me.

Like Del Mars where you need a telescope to see the horses?

THE SLOP DUMP

the PADDOCK area cams are (surprisingly?) up to par.
actually the rest is so shotty that I LOVE the paddock cameras because it would hurt to lose them

^^not sure a good reason ^^

the POST PARADE = is SORRY
the only thing i can think of as a possible positive for the POST PARADE
is that if a horse has problems, i may have seen it in the paddock, and late tune-in bettors will be oblivious. - that IS NOT the kind of edge i really want.

ITS PART OF THE CEREMONY $#q^^@! !!
HAVE SOME PRIDE AND DO IT RIGHT!
i don't care if they have to walk the horses around and over, if it is impossible to set up a camera on the other side but there is a TOTAL LACK OF PRIDE AND COMMON SENSE when they show the pony and not the racehorses...
it's part of the ceremony. The owners should be PISSED if you have a well bred looker and this is your TV time, and they show some busted poney instead of your investment and your proud racehorse...
Not to mention a late tuning handicapper would like to make a visual note of the horse (future betting but also IDENTIFICATION PURPOSES)

then the WARMUP CAMERA is hit or miss....
CAN WE GET A ROUTINE
*CHANNELLING CHRIS ROCK VOICE*
"CAN WE GETTA ROUTINE NYRA???"
SHOW THE 1 HORSE WARM UP FOR XSECONDS, SHOW THE 2, ETC... IF THERE IS TIME AFTER A DECENT ONCE OVER = SHOW ANYONE THAT'S SPRINTING OUT GOOD OR BARELY WALKING

THERE SHOULD BE SOME ORGANIZATION. THERE SHOULD BE SOME ROUTINE
TAKE PRIDE IN THE CEREMONY OF THE POST PARADE. OR JUST RENAME IT THE
'SLOP DUMP'

AND SAY

"NOW THE HORSES WILL HAVE A BRIEF TIME TO USE THE BATHROOM... THANK YOUUUUUUU"

It's called having an opinion.

Like mine. I actually don't see where the paddock cameras at NYRA are markedly better than any other shot when it comes to picture quality.

Agree, the angle is too low. Similar to what Fairgrounds had a few years back. Brought up subject with Bill Nader about 8 years ago and suggested that they float a balloon. Seriously, the building would need to be remodeled to accomodate a camera at a higher position.

Glad you say this.

I haven't noticed a difference in "picture quality" either.

I have been mostly following on the lower quality internet feed, but on my feed I haven't noticed it. (nor on the major races that were on TV).
I assumed it was more noticable on the simulcast feed. ?

however the post parade and warm-ups are extremely poorly organized.
