several of us that post here kept snakes as pets when we were young'uns....thought this might fascinate one or two people....

Growing up in South Florida in the '50s & '60s, I always had a house full of snakes. Well, at least 30 or 40.

Started catching them when I was about 7 years old and by age 9 was out in the Everglades with an older friend all the time. In summer, it was my life.

Brought home all kinds of critters, many of which wound up in the pool.

PS: Never brought home a monk.

Now this is a revelation. You must have had tolerant parents.

I cannot imagine being a kid running around the everglades.
