Favorite movie of all time: Lawrence of Arabia

2nd favorite: Kurosawa's Seven Samurai

Fun Movie I like to watch every once in a while: A Walk On The Moon
(because it so clearly delineates the era of 1950's to 1960's and the differences)

Can anyone tell me *quickly* if the series LUCK about horse racing w/dustin hoffman is worth watching? It was offered to me by a friend but dunno if i want to spend the time watching a series if it is not pretty good.......

Lots of great movies listed here, some of which I had never seen and went out and obtained copies.

I don't really have particularly favorites like Clocker mentioned earlier in the thread, depends on my mood and memory.

Some recent good ones I've seen:

Charade
Bonnie and Clyde
Midnight Cowboy
The Westerner
Coming Home

Been reading a Jack Nicholson bio, kinda rough because Jack don't do interviews so it is stitched together from other sources-Five easy decades, and have been watching some of his earlier movies-Hells Angels on Wheels, A Safe Place (not exactly sure what this was about but Tuesday Weld was in it so...), and King of Marvin Gardens.

For me, that movie is Shawshank Redemption.
My good friend Bob Gunton ( we grew up on the same street in Santa Ana California) would appreciate hearing that. This movie was NOT a big success when first out but it is one that has grown in following ever sense

The characterization of those LOSER bettors adds to the stupid assumed stereotype that every player is as nuts as they were.

Horse racing gets so little Hollywood exposure that ANY racetrack TV series is worth watching if you are a horseplayer, IMO. I may not agree 100% with the narrative of the "Luck" story...but this short TV series is well worth watching, as far as I am concerned. Yes...the featured horseplayers were not presented in the most complimentary light...but the image was true enough for about 90% of us. Overall...the acting involved garners an easy from me.

thanks 46 and Thas! I went ahead and got it, fully realizing it would be stereotypical in some respects.

I left out that nice Canadian series Heartland about a young girl horse trainer.....it was a good way to spend many winter days, and the good part was LOTS OF HORSES, horses, and more horses (racing and otherwise) with a rom-com backstory that didn't get too much in the way actually.

11 seasons, family friendly

I highly suggest
