The best horse in the world is not one that is so prone to finding trouble. Nor is the rider, usually.

I'm far from proclaiming him as the best horse in the world, but he ran pretty darn fast today:

Pretty impressive performance. Given the heat and the lengthy delay MS had to overcome a number of issues and still came out on top. Hard to argue for any other 3YO at this point.

Pretty sure most realistic people aren't all that impressed by the race. Was, was it was.
Travers is shaping up to be one for the ages.

Realistic people see that an often up and down 3YO division just got a clear leader.

In the world?
He's an impressive U.S. 3 year old horse, no doubt about that.

That wasn't a division defining moment.
Travers will tell a large part of this story.

I think he is a good horse, I am unsure how much it is the horse and how much of it is the "special" abilities of his trainer.

Not really looking at a 'moment'. I'm looking at what they have done for the entire year and where they stand now.
Maximum Security has only had one horse finish ahead of him this year.
In almost any year the horse that crosses the finish line first in both the Kentucky Derby and the Haskell would very likely be considered the division leader at this point.

Monmouth cancelled Sunday card.......because of the potential for extreme heat.
I have zero respect for Monmouth officials, and zero respect for trainers/owners for having run this race (esp not so that Mr. West could be presented a trophy by one of Mr. West's attorneys, no less.)
If this Maximum Security had not been disqualed in the KY Derby none of this would even be taking place. Any other stakes race w/out this horse in it would have been postponed and cancelled.
Instead, racing is cancelled for tomorrow, because of "potential" for extreme heat, which we already HAD today, it wasn't potential, it was actually happaning............but hey, they got their trophy now.
It's absurd. I really like the horse. I feel bad that he got stuck having to prove himself in such ridiculous and wrong circumstances.
