Another reason to question the wisdom of race day meds.
North American racing jurisdictions should copy the Euros and the Pacific Rim jurisdictions on this and BAN race day meds.
If they can do it and still put 10 to 15 horses in the gate for every race on any given race day, so can we.

Monmouth management will spend weeks wiping the egg off their collective mugs for this one.
They had ZERO business running races today.
Just checked the current conditions at the airport nearest the track.
At Belmar Airport
Temp 96
Humidity 58%
Dew Point 77
Heat Index 109

At the risk of offending others who train and own, etc, I agree with you. They can refuse and do what is right for their horses. They, I don't believe, would regret pulling out of this day of dangerously extreme conditions. But, if their horse drops dead on that track of a heart attack or a heat stroke, they'll regret that. .... Still, most would say, "what does she know, she doesn't train or own?" And to that my response is instant and a very simple one. "Only what my conscience tells me; I have to live with myself."

Damn.

Wish I had a ticket to Monmouth today. There will be hundreds of people not able to stand up by the time the Haskell is ran.

State money talks....as does the governor. However, this guy's still questioning Saratoga regarding Sunday's card. He's got enough problems of his own, let it go, enough with casting questions to others.

He also thinks they could've run all the races today without incident. Apparently, he hasn't noticed that ocean breeze isn't exactly cooling things off.

Two friends are there. They are in the teletheater.
They are not hanging around.
They bet a few Gulfstream races and are heading home.
My guess is there might be a few hundred people on hand by 8pm to see the Haskell.

Look buddy, it's not the heat, it's the humidity. Let me tell you about the 'ocean breeze'..."

Probably true in this case. But your comment shows the other problem with racing. Nobody remembers or cares about Jaws. We need more young people and more of a young atmosphere. The shuffle board crowd is only going to last so long.
