"Fake" Entries at Santa Anita.
Now trainers are entering horses who never intend to run?
See Below.
In a formal setting with the Stewards a stipulated agreement between trainer Doug O誰eill and the California Horse Racing Board was introduced. This session was recorded by Court Reporter Barbara Weinstein and Investigator Jim Hamilton represented the CHRB. Trainer Doug O誰eill chose not to be in attendance. Dave Wheeler, a Steward from Idaho, sat in as an observer. The record was opened, exhibits were entered into evidence and the hearing was closed. In the agreement Mr. O誰eill accepted full responsibility for the violation of CHRB rule 1581.1. (Entries). Mr. O誰eill had entered a horse that had been treated seven days earlier with Penicillin after being pin-fired, making the horse unfit to race. This created a late declaration, reducing the field to five horses. The race was ultimately won by another O誰eill runner. The following ruling was issued.
LATS #035
Trainer DOUGLAS O誰EILL, having entered into a stipulated agreement with the California Horse Racing Board, is fined TWENTY FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($2,500.00)* for violation of California Horse Racing Board rule #1581.1 (Entries/non-bona fide entry). Such fine to be paid in compliance with the term of the stipulated agreement.

Just when you think some trainers could not get any seedier, they prove you wrong once again.

O'Neill's a mutt, but he was only trying to get the race to go for his runner who was sitting on a win. Happens everywhere all the time.

fake fake
no wonder racing in america is becoming obsolete. With the trainers breaking the rules daily how can the betting public still support a phoney racing enviroment. The fixing of all races has got to stop or the death of racing as we know it will disappear and all the people who have made horses there lifes work will join the millions at the welfare lines.Leave it to the big wigs to ruin a good product and sell out the little guy.Ive been following racing for 35 years and never seen such blatent fixing by the jockeys and owners.

It wasn't personal, just the one I saw first. I think it is good when this stuff is brought out in the open and dealt with, that is all.
Contrary to popular opinion, I don't read every post on PA. It is probably closer to 15% and dwindling.

Absolutely it's good when this stuff is brought out in the open and dealt with. And FUNNSSS1 trainer manipulation is nothing new. Seabiscuits trainer routinely sent out a doppleganger in the AM to decieve the public and opposition of Seabiscuits current status. This "fake entry" thing does happen often. Fortunately there are some officials that "see" it, and then "investigate" it. Unfortunately there are many officials who can't see it or don't care.

Don't see why everybody, yet again, jumps on the "cheater" bandwagon. Having pinfired a ton of them myself, some of them bounce righ back, and can go, and some develop infection despite proper care, including antibiotics. I suspect O'Neil expected a fit horse and came up with a lesser result. It does take a few more weeks than just one however, and he took full responsibility. Don't find it unusual for him to have 2 in the same conditioned event either, as both horses obviously fit the conditions.
Knee jerk reaction the the name O'Neil in print regarding a routine issue here....rules were in place to "protect the public" and enforced, so no issue at all here folks-move along....

Wow, you guys on this forum really have a hard-on for Santa Anita.
It seems like it's the only track in the U.S. that you have a problem with, every time someone passes gas there, somebody on this forum tries to make an issue of it.
Most of this stuff you bitch about happens all over. But if it's S.A. you want to make an issue of it.
How about that cheater in New York, Dutrow, been doing it for years. Where's the negative threads about that.
