Yeah, I think improving the systems is the real solution but everything racing has ever done was always about 20 years behind everyone else so I wouldn't expect much.

Well it's going to get worse before it gets better:

Nevada Race Books are changing their rules to allow betting to continue right up until the gates open. Currently they shut off betting when the first horse enters the gate.

The following quote from the article was interesting. Didn't take Vegas long to figure out how to stop illegal bets.

Mike,

I understand how they could do that if everything works right, but wouldn't they need some kind of signal from the track which, if missed, would leave the betting open too long? Maybe they shut off betting if they lose the signal. I guess that would work.
