Drones: I have a question.
I was just reading about a report concerning 6 drones flying around various landmarks in Paris which included the American Embassy. The authorities are almost clueless.
I wonder: how much is GPS used with flying and controlling drones?
I ask b/c I would suggest their being a standard mandated for the construction and sale of drones in the US by the FCC. This standard would include use of GPS determined locations of both the vehicle and the controller. GPS locations would be both normal and enhanced GPS. The kicker would be a broadcast of both locations on a standard band of frequencies that could be monitored.
I know too much big brotherish.

Drone ownership falls under the second amendment.
We have the God given right to our drones.

I was in Florida a few weeks ago and I met a couple flying this drone. They were very friendly and explained all about it. This particular model went for about $1200. Camera, battery and GPS all included.
No experience necessary. He watched a few YouTube and successfully flew it the first time. It has a limited ceiling of 400 feet for GPS control. When you want to bring it back you can just hit a “home” button and it returns and lands automatically, to where it took off from. Really cool. It’s on my list.
She then sent me this YouTube of the actual flight:

Nice, clear and crisp HD video from the drone. It's funny, but for some reason after I watched the video, I want one Bourbon, one Scotch, and one Beer...

I really want one of these. Seems like it would be great fun.
"Bob, what is that thing doing outside our window? Bob? It's a camera!"

How long before we are "helping" our horse out at the track by buzzing the front runners?
