if i have to play more than 2 horses in a race parimutuel, i skip the race. if i am trying to make a pick 3 and need more than 2, i pass that as well. i am going to let the CAW win.

I bet $500. to $600. a day, most/all of it is returns from the previous days bets.
That combo above cost $1620.00. Betting that much and losing will make me have to quit for a long while.

For those of you with deep pockets full of cash, go for it and good luck.

One time I was at Churchill and I saw that a #13 was in there at 10-1 odds.

I put her second on my exacta ticket with ALL above. The #5 horse came in first at 20-1. I won about $450.

Sweet!

Do you use the 'Tip' button?

don't get me wrong... betting All or Most or Spreads is a sure way to go broke fast, - unless you truly have those combinations of keys/false-favs/singles etc in a couple legs. If it's just one leg ( and unless it's a huge race big field like the Kentucky Derby ) - you're probably better off just betting single race wagers, + maybe a lean flyer on some singles further out.

But, if you have more than one leg with those kinds of factors, an 'All Button' may be fine for a min base wager. Not an 'All/All/all type of thing but opinion/duo/All/opinion type of thing... The All button is dependent on those situations for it to be a reasonable option.

There's a poker saying something like "If you've been playing for 15 min., and you don't know who the patsy is, - You are the patsy!"

When you look at a race once or twice, and you don't see a false fav, or a dark horse Long Shot, it often means you should pass.

Usually referred to as the "fish".

IMO, it's pretty rare to find a situation where it makes sense to use the "all" button.

fair enough

same can be said about just finding an overlay ( although not as rare as 'All' races ).

EXAMPLE PROCESS

- found an overlay

- how do I get some fast $ from this one?

Alright..., I got a pick5 heavyChalk/Overlay// / HeavyChalk
only $4.50 for my opinion

They're Off! -and..., one of the chalk legs the chalk has trouble and a 20/1 wires the field in a 6 horse field and it pays $6k or something and I pull my hair out

Hey that's OK. For 4.50 I had a big value ticket and I hit the Win bet on my Overlay ( paid $12.00 to Win ), and over the long haul things should even out...

the long-term profit smart guys with big bankrolls laugh, but a lot of horseplayers 2nd-guess themselves.

Trying to think through some rare patterns.
