All that is true. But winter tracks cancel all the time, and it's really not much different that it's June and not January. Same scheduling juggling is managed somehow.

You'd rather they run the card as scheduled.
Sometimes cancelled races scatter to the four winds, others remain intact and repeatable. Some aren't brought back because they would conflict with book races. Entry schedules, alternative spots for cancelled horses, the likelihood that shippers will again enter, and even whether a cancelled race was the self-serving creation of agents or trainers ( that is, containing bad faith entries earmarked for scratching) also enter into the equation.

One thing is certain: the connections of most cancelled horses expect their race to be brought back and can't imagine why that might be ill-advised.

Thursday has the best chance for any change. I’d like to see the post time moved to 11:00am. Cancelling won’t happen anymore since other tracks have ran with my suggestion of the earlier post times to beat the heat. Losing a day of racing is a burden on the entire industry. I should have shared my idea years ago.

Shock headline:

IT GETS HOT IN THE SUMMER!

How did our forefathers cope?

They've been racing horses in 90+ heat in the summer for decades. When did people become such pussies? The horses haven't changed, far as I can tell.

Wrong again.
