Wizard's Pool

Has anybody played the Saturday Wizard's Pool offered by Twinspires? I tried to check out past results and payoffs, but they won't reveal that information unless you buy into the pool.
I know they didn't do very well with a similar concept chasing big pick 6 pools and wonder if the Wizard is doing any better. $10 is the minimum buy-in.
Just curious if anybody has tried it and how they made out.

Anyone know what kind of fund size they are attracting? I'd be interested to see how much the wizard is "managing."

Seeding the pool

Brisnet puts up the first $500, which they say guarantees a 5 percent overlay, based on the $10,000 pool max. The Wizard also ponies up $500.
As of Wednesday morning, there's $3,435 in the pool.
I think you ought to be able to check past results before investing. If he's doing well, wouldn't they want to brag about it rather than keep it a secret?

Why in the world are people in the game when they need to resort to the Wizard or others like him for their opinion?

I would think the Wizard makes plays in a pick 4 or pick 6 pool that the average bettor could not afford on his own. I don't think he's making win bets or exactas. The incentive to play is that you're part of group chasing a good score with a big bankroll.
But I would like to know his record before I put up any money. This is the ninth week of the pool. It would be nice to know what happened in weeks 1 to 8.

October 24:

Belmont, Race #3
# 6 BAWANA JAKE Was well-bet in his Aug 15 debut but broke dead last of 11, rushed up to press the pace, then understandably tired in the lane. It was a different story over a sloppy and sealed track here Sept 11 as Jake broke much more alertly and went right to the front. He widened his lead at every call and won by 10 lengths under a steady hand ride. If he can come close to repeating that effort then he`ll win again, and he stands to benefit from a wet track more than his any of his rivals would. I am ?keying? him n doubles with 4 horses in race 4 in the order I prefer them. Ticket #1

Belmont, Race #4
#11 BILLY BEAR Won his first two career starts in dominant fashion like a potential star, including a debut victory by nearly 4 lengths in the mud over this track. He was then away for almost 10 months, and when he returned he ran into Ruffino, who is a top contender for today`s Empire Classic. Billy Bear was close to the pace all the way in that return race and finished 2nd, and that `key` race has produced multiple winners. Billy has been given nearly two more months to progress and has been working exceptionally well during that time. He should be tough to deny at this shorter trip and benefits more than most in here if the track is wet. I will be passing up the win bet as I hope we can be alive with him in the double if our ?key? Bawana Jake wins race 3. I will using Billy Bear in exactas only. Ticket #1

# 11 BISHOP OF NOLA Rallied from far back in last to finish 3rd of 9 in his debut over a muddy track Aug 22. He then showed that he can handle a route and turf when finishing 2nd Sept 17 behind the favored winner. Both times he had less than ideal trips, and he should build on those two good educational outings today with Desormeaux staying aboard. Good recent work over this main track. I?m ?keying? him with ALL as the 2nd hole is wide open and pressing with the 2 horses I like best in the exactas. Ticket #1

Calder, Race #8
#11 HEAVEN`S AWESOME Even though this colt comes into this race with a mediocre overall record of just 2 wins from 31 career starts he`s not as bad as that may suggest. Really! In truth this 4 yo was mismanaged in his younger days and is just now started to be handled in a professional manner since trainer Stanley Gold has taken over during the late summer. Horse has improved steadily since then and last out was solid prove to back that theory up. In that affair he made an explosive middle move but even after shuffling back was able to come on once again. That`s the sign of a runner who`s coming into his own for real. I am passing up the win bet and ?keying? him in exactas using ALL then pressing with the 3 horses I like better than the rest. Ticket #1

# 7 MAKE NOTE Has impressed with a strong closing kick in all three starts, winning his last two from off the pace. That bodes well for this initial stretch to a route, and he also loved the sloppy and sealed track here last time out. In that race he rallied up the inside on a day when outside paths were best, so the win was even better than appears. I am looking to take a shot against the big favorite Ibboyee with the win bet and equal exacta boxes with 3 horses in order of my preference. Ticket #1

# 6 DROSSELMEYER Well bred colt from the Mott barn has turned in game efforts in first two trips to post both around two turns on the turf facing quality company beaten less then a length in debut and second last out. Choice to earn his diploma this time around with Albarado up. Passing up the win bet in favor of exactas with 4 other horses I find it difficult to separate. Ticket #1

# 8 LIL RICKY T TOO Gray filly had valid excuses for each of her 3 starts. She reared at the break in her debut, bled in her 2nd start and drew yielding turf last time out. She was going well at the wire despite having bled on Aug 26. This drop from MSW into maiden claiming makes her a live longshot for high % trainer Michael Nance. Go-to jock Danush Sukie up. This horse is 10-1 on the morning line which calls for a win bet and equal exacta boxes with the horses I like. If we can nail this, a small $500 wager can reap big dividends. Ticket #1

#9 INFLIGHT Was overmatched in a turf route in his first start off the Catalano claim. Last time out he ran well enough to win when dropped into a dirt sprint at the level claimed. Sent off as the favorite, the 3yo colt pressed the pace and finished a clear 2nd in a race that was faster than par. Catalano has had just one win from 16 starts here but he has had four 2nds and four 3rds. The Cat Man is deadly when he drops a beaten favorite in class as he does today with this colt. Thornton figures to sit a good stalking trip from the open outside post. Inflight is our ?key? in the last leg of our Pick 3. Ticket #1
$75.00 Pick 3: #3,8 with #1,3,4,7 with #9
*Ticket Cost: $600.00*

Hawthorne, Race #7
#1 HE`S THE COMMANDER 4yo got the class drop that he needed and scored gamely over $5000 non-winners of three on the polytrack across town. Trainer Kenneth Hoffman shipped him up to Woodbine to face $16,000 claimers on the turf last time. In a race that was clearly a prep He`s The Commander pressed the pace for 6F before weakening. That was a key race field that saw both the 2nd and 3rd place finishers win their next start. 4yo gelding now drops to the basement and can control the tempo breaking from the rail against a paceless field. Reunited with Karlsson who won on him two starts back. Figures to be a decent price so I will make the win bet and exactas with the 3 horses I like underneath. Ticket #1

Belmont, Race #10
#6 FUTURE PROSPECT Is as reliable and honest as they come. This 5yo son of top New York sire Freud comes off a decisive win over state-bred company, a race in which he rated just off a hot pace, took over, and drew off to win by nearly 4 lengths. Although he can dominate a race on the lead, his ability to rate is a major plus in this field, since there are a couple of other speed horses in here who might be gunned for the lead. Rajiv Maragh is back aboard and he`s won his last 5 mounts aboard this gelding. Shows two more good works since the last race for trainer Mike Maker, who`s done a stellar job with this gelding since taking over his training back in February. Since he will be the favorite, I have decided to go for the trifectas as several horses can land in it at prices. Ticket #1
$20.00 Trifecta: #6 with #1,2,4,5,10,11,12 with #1,2,4,5,10,11,12
*Ticket Cost: $840.00*

October 31st Final Bankroll: $8296.50

$6500 of the 10k was used on WIN bets.

November 14th Final Bankroll: $8,536.00

I got these off of another forum that I am apart of. One of the members put money in for 3 weeks to see how good the "Wizard" did.

Thanks much for the information. Now I'm convinced this is NOT something I want to be involved in. I thought he was using the big bankroll to spread in pick 4's or pick 6's. There doesn't seem like much chance to make a profit following his picks.
