Pell grants are investment in the nation's growth. A kid who wouldn't have otherwise gone to a community college or technical school has the potentail of costing the tax payer much more in welfare to live, jail time, etc etc. With the pell grant the country gets back an educated person who has the potential to get a decent job and pay taxes.

In theory, it's a wonderful sounding plan. Unfortunately, the theoretical runs into reality from time to time and the two have to reach a compromise.

Bullshit!

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...159829896.html

Those Pell Grant types only get a 4 yr degree 40% of the time.

Those who do not receive Pell grants? 60%

Pell grants are welfare for 60 % of those who get free cash. 6 failures out of ten.

Why is it that there so many world class Universities in the U.S; yet, the k-12 educational system is an embarrassment?

Could the reason be that Higher Ed is more privatized?

I'll go to bat for Fischer here since he doesn't live in the cellar with us and take a guess that the entirety of that post of his was sarcasm.

I was actually hoping it was sarcastic, but it would have helped with the emoticon for sure.
