$7 denomination Grand Slam bet (horse must show in legs 1/2/3, horse must win in leg 4).
12 bets on one ticket with 1/2/2/3 runners -- 1*2*2*3 = 12 combinations. Ticket cost $7x12 = $84.
On the notecard, each of the 12 combinations is listed. Two combos were winners, both 3/13/1/5 and 3/13/2/5 (#5 horse won final leg, and #1 and #2 horses both finished in top three in third leg).
I'm assuming this ticket is only going to pay out the $2 Grand Slam payout x (7/2) for my $7 denomination bet.
However, if I had instead asked for each of my 12 desired combinations in a unique $7 denomination and ended up with 12 individual $7 tickets, I would have two winners at the $7 denomination. Why when putting them on one slip do I only get paid for one winner?
Thank you in advance -- I am fairly new to horse racing and this is really annoying/bothering me right now.
Also sorry, was not able to figure out how to attach this photo of the betting slip:
