RIP Arnold Palmer

This might belong in sports but I always thought of Arnold Palmer as much more than a golfer. Got to shake his hand when I was twelve at a tournament and didn't fully realize how great he was.

Rest in Peace Arnie.

RIP

Golf and sports legend,
and a great gentleman.

Recent times saw the emergence
of Tiger Woods, and the influence
he had on the sport.

I would contend that Arnold Palmer,
followed by Jack Nicklaus, had by
far the biggest impact on the game of golf.
Not even close.

That's too bad. It was obvious he was in serious decline while the US Open was at Oakmont, but you still hoped he would tough it out for a while, a year, a few years longer.

A true exemplar of the spirit of golf- competitiveness, honesty, and devotion to the game, we have lost a great one in Arnold Palmer.
My condolences to his family and friends.

Agreed.
Palmer exuded class on and off the course.

R.I.P. Arnold. I was stunned to find out he last won a tournament in 1973, I can't believe it was over 40 years ago.

Another Icon of my life gone. I saw him at Augusta National when my dad took my brothers and me to a practice round. I tried to get his autograph between the 17th green and the 18th tee. He was swamped with autograph seekers, I never got close to him. The 2017 Masters will not be the same. RIP Arnold.
