Tote Board

Is there any software out there that will record tote board change in a race at a set minute interval? Thanks Chris

I have seen several free ones on this site (do a search) that logs tote odds and pools.

I created my own in Excel and have it doing several things at once; one being to track on a graph the odds of each horse so I can tell at a glance which are heading up or down or staying about the same. I set it to update automatically once per minute via Excel's External Data Connections. You just need a free online tote (very few left) that shows the pools. I also have mine showing exacta willpays and daily double willpays etc. Just select the track and race number from drop downs. I also added conditional formatting on cells that show underlays/overlays for each horse's WPS pools.

It takes some time to create, but is fun to play around with to watch how the money comes in during the last 2 minutes thru 1 minute AFTER post time.

at the races refreshes at the next race, I don't believe it records data for future analysis.

Which online tote let's you ping their server that often without shutting you down? A tote reader that runs in Excel is exactly what I need.

Very good, I did mostly the same things on Excel but I also programmed it to record by auto pasting the pools every minute, I used bris supertote

Here's anotherone (spreadsheet) that can do some of what you're asking.
it is the same one I posted in harness
http://www.paceadvantage.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=96664

with an added feature of showing an exacta pay grid that
shows only prices that have dropped by a certain percentage from last refresh.
(scroll to the right on sheet "toteboard", if you don't have a wide screen display)

you can set that percentage in the constants section.

The weather update showing wind speed and direction needs verified.
(I know it's wrong for Meadowlands, since they've changed the finish line.)

pros
it's free
doesn't require any accounts anywhere.

cons
takes about 10 seconds to refresh.
I don't know if that's a feature of the VBA macro that runs or the web site response.

Ray,

Would it be tough to modify the workbook to track the win odds rather than the exacta will pays? I'd like to play around with projecting final odds direction and amount of change based on patterns in the last couple of clicks on the tote.

Your work is, of course, much appreciated! Very nicely done!! I was just about to tackle live tote tracking in Excel myself, but it appears you've done most of the work for me. Thanks!!!!!!

In the VBA macro (Module 1) there is this code near the bottom, right above Subroutine "Clearit"

" If Worksheets("toteboard").CheckBox3.Value = True Then
Range(Cells(6, 3), Cells(6, 17)).Copy"

change Range(Cells(6, 3), Cells(6, 17)).Copy ........to
.......Range(Cells(8, 3), Cells(8, 17)).Copy

and the current odds line in text form will be copied to the bottom rows (63 and lower) on sheet "Toteboard"
provided the Checkbox "Keep Win Tote History" is checked.

If you want decimal odds there is a conversion table "Oddstonum" on sheet "Imports" that can be used for vlookup

Those rows, 63+ will have to manually cleared if starting a new race. The Clear Grids button only clears exacta pay rows.

The track info must be available at https://classic.ebetusa.com/racing/

Races that are completed for the day are available as the final tote would display.

Races where wagering is in progress should display the most recent "flip" of the board.

Races from prior days would not have any tote info or be available.

What track and race is giving you trouble?

edit

I just ran thru the races available at this moment 4:30
Woodbine (TB)
The Meadows
Hollywood Park
Sunland Park
Gulfstream Park
Tampa Bay Downs
Hawthorne
Golden Gate Fields
Fair Grounds

and Sunland is giving me trouble.
So I'm guessing that's it. right?

Make sure you're selecting a live race or one that was run earlier today.

Try Hollywood Race 1.

If you still get that error alert then some security setting on your computer is blocking import.

Which Windows OS and MS Office versions are you using?
