Saw race 5 times in person (4 bcs and once in the UK)

And she gave me thrills 4 of the 5 times with an explosive turn of foot.

Sad to see her go.

Wasn’t much on pedigree which is why she was just a mediocre broodmare

But she could run.

Setting aside that fillies and mares run against males more often in Europe and it's probably easier on grass, the amazing thing about her was that her spectacular accomplishments were primarily against males and not just occasional tests.

Never will forget the 2010 BC Mile with her groom cheering her on in the stretch. Seems like we are losing so many good ones. I had to do a double take when I saw her age, as it seems like she was running just yesterday

This is very sad news indeed. Goldikova could certainly be classed as one of the greats of racing. Very fond memories and the one horse that almost guaranteed a Euro win at the BC.
