He may be evil...but he's not very powerful...witness Ukraine going on 2 years now?

There are far-more powerful and equally as evil (if not more so) people ahead of Putin on your list...or at least there should be.

You just do not get it, he has more money than everyone you have come into contact with combined. Killing everyone inside Ukraine is not a problem for him, it is just when they say do it.

I think it will backfire.

Every sane country on earth with assets tied up in the west will want to get their money out of the US. They'll all realize that the US can control their internal politics by threatening to seize their assets. The smart ones will head for the exits and the dollar will slowly collapse and lose its status as the reserve currency. That's going to happen anyway, but a move like his would accelerate it.
