Would be interesting if more war breaks out in Asia and Eastern Europe. IF we stay out of it...could mean flight of $ back to US stocks...

cheap stocks with action to the long side now
CMPS

the CEO keeps on buying this stock on the way down SOFI, this is going to be my #1 stock to focus on this week, mainly to the long side.

Imo, excess mortality deserves to be a huge story. But for some reason it isn't.
And being caught up in that thought process prevented me from seeing an opportunity.
But your thought process allowed you to see this in a different light.
At the very least, once I realized the numbers from OneAmerica were real, I should have been giving some serious thought about shorting a few carefully selected publicly traded life insurance companies.
Obviously, I've got some reprogramming to do.

the only reason i see these companies as shorts is that once someone signs up for a life insurance policy, the premium never changes. if there is that big a differential in the actuarial, they are going to have a big problem. its like a bookmaker that puts out a bad line on a game, election or whatever they are going to lose.
now going forward, you can bet your bottom dollar that new life insurance policy premiums are way up.
