I'm a sucker for a decent angle and this one isn't illogical. It takes a pretty good horse to win at multiple distances, and in the case of RYW, multiple surfaces.

I dug back before the points system and the following were also undefeated at 3:
2000 Fusaichi Pegasus
2004 Smarty Jones
2006 Barbaro
2008 Big Brown
2012 I'll Have Another

Note, Street Sense missed being undefeated by a nose and Animal Kingdom by a head.

These horses are wining the Roses at about a 50% clip the past two decades. I don't have time at the moment to look at the impact value but it looks robust at first glance.

Well, after all the talk about the points system . My two cents included. There are rumblings of quite a few pulling out today. See what happens. But it looks like some qualified horses may take a pass on the derby. There appears to be a few on the fence
