soup and sammich + helium
depending on post, both of casse's horses offer a fighting chance at a big price as i drill through the program
don't really like the tb derby to kd angle but the unknown is always will be intriguing as to the known meh races you see on many horses. his tb derby race was pretty impressive, and i'm a big fan of that race as it pertains to top horses
soupy deserves another look as well.
both should offer solid exotic prices as well

Soup fits my Brisnet LP angle with a 101. Helium, no. A couple knocks I have with Soup is the FL Derby pace was par and he couldn't hold. There's a decent chance the pace in Kentucky won't be as kind. Also, for whatever reason, FL Derby horses that were not in the Gulfstream winner's circle usually don't do squat in the Derby. Recent exception was Code of Honor who DQed into the exacta.
I'm pondering the Wood runners as that race was so goofy and they have solid LP. Also considering the two Turfway runners given they had respectable figures in spite of bumper cars.
The only other thought process would be to look for a stayer at a price. I don't expect it but perhaps a Caddo River gets up front and doesn't face a cavalry charge 110 yards out, holding up for a piece of the super.

soupy would definitely have to improve to win/run itm, but you can't say definitively that he wont improve.
as for helium. he raced 5 wide the entire TB derby first time dirt and route. he ate up ground the second half of the race and motored to a win. that was great race. i would have loved to of seen 142 but it was tough trip. with expert handling improvement should be in order as well.

I’m looking at both for my superfecta. Both have to improve but on my analysis Helium is sitting on a big race, I don’t think it will be enough to win but this field is kinda weak and that usually means you get some weirdo’s in the money.
Soup, I have same concerns as to not holding in Florida but if he learns to switch leads would help. I do like that he broke alertly and he looked really good running, he definitely has talent but might need to wait to see it come to fruition.
Regardless, I’m strongly considering both for my exotics...for the record I do tend to favor outsiders for my derby super...it’s a race where I go for the home run more then the most logical play.

S & S is going to be the biggest underlay of the field, IMHO.

another week to go and not even @ the post draw and i'm already souring on helium as one of my long shot picks. i'll have him on a couple of tickets, but i when i look at the race i already feel like i'm giving my money away.
the horse seems so gimmicky. not to mention it seems like a pretty light version of a TB derby that have had good horses in it the past few years.
if your object was just to get to the KD and hide your horse they've done it.
never underestimate saying you had a horse in the KD and the week long party that comes with it

I doubt I'll include either in my exotics. They just don't do it for me.

i don't pay that much attention to good workouts and base a play off of them, but bad ones need to be looked at.
this doesn't look good. and it might be enough to bail on the horse unless you see something positive

Can we get action on whether or not this one actually makes it into the gate? Way too green and high strung for 140,000 people. PASS.
