If a baseball or basketball player commits an infraction and gets suspended, the suspension starts immediately after the commissioner approves it. If they miss the big game, too bad.
Same thing if a soccer player gets too many yellow or red cards. Doesn't matter if the next game is the championship. Sorry, you're out.
There should either be (1) no court review of stewards' decisions at all or (2) a rule that the are no stays and that you serve the suspensions while proceeding in court. And they should get rid of the designated race rule. If you commit a riding infraction on the first Thursday in May, you should be suspended on Friday and you lose your mount in the Kentucky Derby. That's how every other sport works.

2017 Handle on races run at Del Mar to date = $194,654,164
2018 Handle on races run at Del Mar to date = $214,642,746
$16,651,751 of the gain in handle is from out of state. Wow! Don’t ever remember this high a percentage of handle up being from out of State.

Not surprised with the weather issues the SPA is having. Del Mar seems to be on a nice roll right now, hope they can keep the field size up.

This is Del Mar's 1st season with the new tax laws. 5- 10% handle increases have been par for the course for most tracks with a couple of exceptions.

That and the good economy are certainly part of it.

How come the good economy has not been reflected in on-track handle or CA OTB handle?
