CD BC weather

Perhaps, as long range is a guess at best.

If this holds, couldn't dodge rain any better! Perhaps Gawd will be betting on Good to Firm turf for Sat?

Wed OCT 31 Showers 61°47°

Thu NOV 1 Showers 57°44°

Fri NOV 2 AM Showers 57°43°

Sat NOV 3 Cloudy 56°43°

Sun NOV 4 AM Showers 59°45°

Capping these Euros is tough enough, but now I’m finding differences in the turf conditions abbreviations between the DRF and Brisnet
Friday Race 5 for Well Done Fox
As you can see he’s had nine races. His last four races have turf conditions as : gf, gs, gf, gd in the DRF. And gd, gd, gd, gd in Brisnet.

In addition, the DRF gives no explanation for what “gf” & “gs” are. The only explanations on their website I see are:

Turf:
fm Firm
gd Good
hd Hard
hy Heavy
sf Soft
yl Yielding

At least Brisnet is consistent:
Turf Conditions:
HD - Hard - Surface is hard and horses do not have normal cushion of the course; frequently follows periods of drought and high temperatures.
FM - Firm - Equivalent to Fast on Dirt Track; course is dry and at peak efficiency.
GD - Good - The drying process continues, times improve and the track is approaching a FIRM condition. Fewer divots may be evident.
YL - Yielding - Usually following some wet weather; horses' hooves dig up the course and divots are flying; times are slower
SF - Soft - Usually following prolonged wet weather; horses' hooves sink in and dig up the course; times are considerably slower.

Can anyone explain why there are two different turf conditions for the same race?

I'd trust a Euro site like At The Races regarding the turf in a Euro race.

They should only hold the Breeders Cup in California or Florida, 50 % chance you will have bad weather anywhere else this time of year

Will never happen, but I would like to see it go back to Woodbine-best turf course in North America

Hope this helps, usually firm in North America = good in Europe, good in North America = soft in Europe and so on...

A. Thats why its dumb to wait until November to begin with.

B. When its held in hot and hard turf courses the Euros want nothing to do with it. But they'll call it "World Championships"....lol

C. A horse would never choose those climates in a millions years, even with evolution............a couple times it was over 90 degrees in California.......that is gonna kill or hurt more horses than cool weather and rain. And many years there was a ridiculous speed bias. Unless it was on a poly track then it was just a total joke for horses that raced on dirt. But again, they have the nerve to call it the "World Championships". The entire thing was sold on moving around when it started. Its freaking Horse Racing.....not a bikini contest.

Put people out there in the sun running in 85 to 95 degrees......see how many drop. Oh, the humanity....i might get wet walking in from the parking lot....

Not surprisingly, Churchill refuses to call the turf soft or yielding, listing it as "good". If the course was listed as "good" after the monsoon on Derby Day 2017, it's clear the folks at CD would label the course good if a hurricane came thru Louisville. Why bother with condition designations if they aren't truthful?
