Swoop and Lefty.

As far as your filter settings go: Do you use those same settings for all tracks, distances and surfaces? I look at the charts on a daily basis and there are some tracks that speed is so dominant that I would think a 10/90, 20/80, or 30/70 form/speed ratio would be more appropriate. These would be in reverse for turf races on surfaces where deep closers dominate. For the speed dominant tracks, I also like to use the "within 3 lengths at the 2nd call" filter. When winner after winner is within a couple of lengths at the 2nd call, wouldn't this be a good filter to use. This would eliminate pacelines where the horse was too far back to be competitive at this particular track. Just curious as to your thoughts on this.

I also would be interested in an activation code for Wizard. Please e-mail if you have one.

Procapper

Hey , old Procapper fans! Glad to see you're around and still appreciate what a fine program it was. You miss out on some great long shots if you only go back 3-4 races, though. Know your trainers and see if they are the type that would hold back a horse for a price. Remember , if a horse did it once , he can do it again.

Iwinstone:

You will find that 50-50, 2nd F, 2nd C, 250 days and last 3 races will give you a reasonable settings for all distances except Turf Races.

Do you have the Wizard???

Is it my imagination, or have we had more than the usual number of requests for old software lately? I'm sensing a request for the activation code for Focus2000 to rear it's ugly head in the near future.

Maybe because simpler is better. Today's software provides too much information . By the time you sort through all of the info provided, you've missed post time.

I mostly agree with you N & B because 'cappers can get information overload. That said, I would like software to give me plenty of options. That way I can choose what to use and ignore what I don't. Older software was advanced for it's time, and in the right hands was at least a time saver if not a downright handicapping improvement tool. Today's bettor needs to be much more sophisticated than 20 years ago, so I see simpler software as a starting point but not much beyond that.

There are exceptions -- if we could only get CJ to bring back PaceFigures!! But seriously, for something simple that you can use today I would recommend guys like benedictca look at the Power Pace Handicapping software which is included in Pandy's latest book. It doesn't have a lot of features but does look at pace in a slightly different way and will give users a better than good starting point. Pandy must have used the same programmer as NorCalGreg so if you are familiar with NCG's programs there will be no big learning curve.

StanBrite Procapper

My computer crashed and I lost my disk for StanBrite Procapper. Would you be kind enough to send me a copy. I would be happy to reimburse you for your time. I miss this program at Oaklawn.
