GG south aka Gulfstream

Gulfstream is carding more and more races on the fake track,Out of the 10 races carded at Gulfstream today 5 are on Tapeta,
,why throw another wrench into an allready very difficult game, didn’t the people who run Gulfstream learn anything from Kee,SA,and Del Mar they experimented w/ the fake stuff it didn’t work, I always looked forward to the championship meet
this year though I find it very difficult to follow and bet Gulfstream
I think they only should use Tapeta only for races that come off the turf
I wonder what the handle is like on the Tapeta and overall compared to non tapeta years. God forbid if NYRA does the same ( they are thinking about it)

Opinions?

Hate the fake crap. I don't bother looking at any races on them.

I thought they were only going to use it when races were taken off the turf.

Re. NYRA thinking about it

Yeah, but I hold the NYRA in high regard. I think they would do it the right way ... only use it for races coming off the turf.

Imagine if GP begins carding stakes races on the synth:

1. Goofy new surface
2. NO LASIX
3. Late odds manipulation

Not good.

isn't the tapeta for rainy days and soon after?

allowing safer training and racing to continue?

4. Mis-timed or not timed races
5. Mythical distances
6. 3 hour merry go round by gate starting at post time

And this is their Championship Meet! ......

This reminds me ...

Anyone have the last out Beyer for NECKER ISLAND?

I was looking at the 5th Season Stakes at Oaklawn for this coming Saturday and noticed there was no BSF listed for NECKER ISLAND last time out. The race was "hand timed" at the Fair Grounds.

Did Hallandale Beach have rains yesterday? This morning while sitting in my favorite leather chair, I opened the form only to realize there are ZERO turf races, so I just moved to play the BIG A. Was there a reason for this??

No rain was Fast track

R1/2/4/7/9 Dirt
R3/5/6/8/10 AW

Races #5 and #10 were originally scheduled for the Turf but were moved to the All-Weather (possibly "saving" the Turf for today I guess)

Pros - preserve turf course, boost cheaper cards in field size

unfortunately some of the weekend cards haven't been built on Dirt and Turf framework as much as preferred

hopefully, as with the timing issues, and post time procrastination, this will continually improve

quirkyness - if you buy the old setups>pace theories for synth, it can build in some insights (eg a horse w/ inflated credentials, or a horse that did significant running vs. grain but was under the radar of the pace/speed figs).

unfortunately this would also imply greater randomness in any given event.

also w/ GP - Their post bias at 8.5 an 9f dirt was one of the best quirks that they offered, and they've already been less frequent in recent years, but seem to have given a major slice of those over to synth races now, as well

Do we handicap the 2 turf races tomorrow or just plan on them being switched to tapeta. I wish we at PA could find the reasoning from Aiden Butler on these races lately. 2 turf races on a Sunday???

Has anyone been tracking the handle on the synth races vs. the dirt races? It may not be exactly comparable if they are different types of races on average, but that data is still probably interesting.

Sounds like people on this board can only handicap 6f sprints with 5 horse fields with a horse with the best jock, trainer, early speed, late speed, beyers that they see at 2-1 as they load and complain with it gets hammered to 1-9 on the final flash. Their handicapping skill is limited to Captain Obvious plays.

I mean if form and figures and pace and all that jazz are useless for synthetics just blindly bet all the longshots and profit.

FYI they are useless, why bet the races it’s easier to bet the lottery at your local 7/11

Well now, that is certainly the best advice we've ever seen here!
