Hcap is talking total COVID-19 Deaths.
At specific places on certain days or weeks the Suicide rate may be higher, but not the Total for the year.
The original assertion about suicides being higher than COVID deaths was poorly stated and needed clarification.

Btw, how are things going with your Boy from Brazil?
No lock downs there - just massive casualties.

A sort of genocide of the poor, perhaps?
Just like here, that's okay with the "haves".
Oh I know...I'm such a cold-hearted bastard...

When I see you wringing your hands 365 days a year for everyone who dies of something in the USA, maybe I'll take your point more seriously.

4 months of official tracking on the Johns Hopkins site and 339,000 dead worldwide. Flu is still king...and that's WITH a vaccine, which mitigates the flu far more than social distancing has mitigated COVID.

And yet, I don't recall you once lamenting the hundreds of thousands (as much as 600,000 in a bad year) killed worldwide from the flu every year...not once on this board did you post about this...and you've been here for 11 years now...imagine that.

Funny I don’t remember influenza killing 100,000 in Less than 3 months in the United States in recent history.

Maybe you have a link that can refresh my memory.

And the total numbers mean NOTHING in any specific are.
hcap is not bright enough to figure that out.

In my area, we are NOTHING close to NYC, and over 95% of our cases came in one nursing home.

But hcap thinks we should hide in the basement for another year or two.
Thank God no one listens to hcap.

If they counted flu like COVID, I'm sure the number would be 2x100,000

So a scientific ppjojerction from down under? Are they going tio be able to separate the srerss created by concerns and fears of getting sick and dying, from the mitigation measures instituted in order to prevent that? Are they going to interview the suiciders?

Hope your website "RT News" (Right?) is more objective than some notorious fringe Australian climate deniers.

Oh, lookie here on your website....

Computer modelling for Covid-19 was FATALLY flawed. What if I told you that climate change models are EVEN WORSE?

I would have never guessed!

No, it is reality.

Fact is the deaths themselves do not matter to hcap.

Reality - you should drop by once we re-open.

Thanks. It's pretty ironclad.

I think id someone was going to commit suicide, it would be best for the country if they took out a bad politician before or at the same time.

Okay....so.....let's assume you were 100% correct about all of this.
I don't believe that is the case, but I'll play along.

Comparing this virus to the flu is oranges to apples.
The rate, and manner, in which it spreads is completely different.

The biggest flaws in your approach are twofold.
You have the benefit of hindsight, however recent.
This virus is completely uncharted territory.
Looking at statistics, even a day or two after the fact, gives you
a big edge when it comes to the "I told you so" refrain.
It's like predicting the winner of a horse race at the eighth pole.

Secondly, imagine if you had been completely wrong (which you're not).
Lock downs were next to non-existent, and yet the fatality rate was far
higher than actually transpired. You (and everyone in authority) would
be drowning in the blood and corpses of victims. Not a happy situation.

Government erred on the side of caution.
Why? Because they had to. Human life is precious.
The outcome (which is horrible in itself) had to be feared.

Democratic and liberal hoaxes?
Don't even go there.......

How could I be completely wrong when I NEVER advocated for DOING NOTHING? Which is the basis of your last reply.

I can't believe some are still operating under this false assumption about me.
