Lightbulb Best Search Engines (alternatives to Google?)

TLDR - Recommend any search engines alternatives to Google?

full spiel;
So... Google is AWESOME
AFAIK, Google has been the best for years. It has helped me tremendously.

However, I have noticed a trend of a mild, but steady increase in marketing/etc.. manipulation of the results.

I can see an extreme/full example of this if I search for a random drug question (rather than getting the pages you would formerly find, you now get 90% 'recovery village' 'addiction helpline',etc... pages)..

Now on any topic I can use the 'advanced search' and/or the characters (eg "-" minus sign to search without certain words, but that is tedious.
I'm high(on my morning 1 cup of coffee) and I have a great idea, and I'd like to 'surf the net' using my brainpower, without advertising or cookies or whatever manipulating the results.

TLDR - Recommend any search engines alternatives to Google?

Wow. Thx guys. Ran test searches, and DDG was significantly less manipulated with some of the search terms.

Thank you.

I like Altavista and Dogpile.

Really, I've been using DuckDuckGo for a few years now ever since my choice of operating system is a Linux variant.

A lot of times when I use google to look for some information I get 10 pages of blogs (with ads) all displaying the same information word for word that I'm pretty sure they copied from some sucker's website. Shame on google, >>Dickheads<<
