NFL Playoffs: Place Yer Bets, Gents.
I thought a thread separate from a general discussion about the playoffs where people can display their betting choices for the upcoming post-season.would be appropo.A discussion thread about the playoffs will also be available.Bragging rights to be decided at a later date.
In case you've forgotten , here be the schedule.(All times EST)
Wild Card
Saturday , January 7th
Raiders at Texans. 4:35 p.m
Lions at Seahawks. 8:15 p.m.
*******************
Sunday, January 8th
Dolphins at Steelers, 1:05 p.m
Giants at Packers, 4:40 p.m.
I believe this will work best if just your choices and maybe a quick comment on those choices,if you wish to make one, to keep things from getting mixed up .A comments section will be made available in a separate thread for more in-depth discussion.

Raiders (+3 1/2) over Texans.O-Town too good to be bad 2 weeks in a row, Texans can't beat good teams
Seahawks (-7 1/2) over Lions. Stafford has shown enough times he won't fold in crunch time but outdoors in Seattle may be asking too much.
Steelers (-10) over Dolphins. Every wild card weekend has a blowout. This will be it.
Giants (+4 1/2). OK, it's my heart talking BUT the Giants have one of the best defenses and the Packers DB's are so injured, the cheerleaders may have to play.Eli, you have outstanding receivers.Use them.Think Daryle "The Mad Bomber" LaMonica.Quit the dink and dunk.

Giants +4.5. Supposedly going to be bitter cold and Rodgers doesn't have the best record in bitter cold. Going into the game vs Chicago in December, he was 0-2 in regular season games in which the gametime temp was below 10 degrees. The Packers did win that game, albeit being life and death to win 30-27 despite a plus 4 T/O margin. We know Rodgers lost a playoff game in the bitter cold against the Niners a few years ago. But the real key is the Giants pass D has been exceptional, while the Packers secondary is decimated by injuries.

Giants also have already beaten Rodgers in a playoff game in Green Bay.

Opposing QB's passer rating vs the Giants:
Wash 74, Philly 73, Detroit 72, Dallas 45, Pittsburgh 98, Cleveland 89, Chicago 82, Cincinnati 74, Philly 64, LA 50, Baltimore 74, Green Bay 65. That's serious pass defense.

Texans (glad I don't have to watch this game)
Seahawks (Detroit has an awful defense, and stafford's hand is clearly injured)
Steelers (I feel sorry for the fins here)
Giants (a must watch game)

Under 36.5 in the Houston-Oakland game. Roof or no roof I hope both teams are going into the game believing their defense can win it if the offense doesn't screw up.
So I'm betting on a conservative brand of football in the best playing conditions this weekend.

Too many guys on Big Blue! I am, too - actually thought they should be favorites in this game.

Houston -4
Rookie QB making first ever start.Starting left tackle out.Starting safety( run support) out
If O'Brien loses this at home he deserves to be let go.

I'm not touching that game outside the under. OAK's blindside tackle is now out so you have a rookie QB starting a playoff game with the most important player on the line being 2nd string.
OAK might not score.

since barahona44 wanted a separate thread for discussion, I don't want to debate long in here. Aware of injuries, my best guess is that Oakland's offense will significantly outperform Houston's offense today. More of an 'action' opinion than a money opinion. Green Bay is the stronger of my two wildcard week plays.
