BC Juvenile 2016

The BC Juvenile looked like a solid race going in. It came up fast-fast. Now the first 2 horses out of it have won. Granted, both found softer spots than Grade 1 competition, but it's looking like that was a very good group.

It's a shame Not This Time is done. He may have been the best Derby prospect among them even if he wasn't best that day.

No doubt in my mind this is a strong crop of 3yo males, much better than last year.

Certainly looks better so far.

The actual Juvenile was very lopsided with the top 2 dominating. One of those is gone. On another level, the East Coast horses crushed despite being on a West Coast track. The 3rd and 5th place horses have yet to work back. Lookin At Lee was well handled by the top two in multiple starts. He'll have to improve dramatically over the winter (if he's ever allowed to leave Louisiana).

Gormley still has a bit of potential, but not sure he will stretch out with that running style and the Sham may have took a lot out of him. Term of Art's off-the-turf stakes win is looking fraudulent. In fact, two of the horses he defeated in his modest maiden win came back and finished ahead of him in the Sham (and one of those is still a maiden). Klimt's form went the wrong way, now has a new trainer. He's suspect in a lot of ways.

The Remsen, Kentucky Jockey Club, Delta Jackpot and Los Alamitos Futurity might be more important with regards to the Derby trail.

I agree. It didn't look like a particularly good field and now it's being verified.
