You don't find it at all contradictory that a Presidential candidate that went on basically a nationwide tour demanding the sitting President release his Birth Certificate won't release his tax returns?

Not really. One is a potential constitutional issue, the other is clearly not.

Except Obama did release a birth certificate in 2008.

We can agree to disagree on stuff but Trump is being contradictory. Releasing Tax Returns is SOP for Presidential Candidates.

Obeying the law and following the constitution used to be SOP as well.
We are in a new age, new rules.

The IRS was satisfied with them, moot point.

I come to believe that Trump will win the general by a landslide. at least 55-45 maybe 60-40. He will be either worse or best president we have ever had. I hope he will change the tax laws that now favor such things mergers and acquisitions instead of research and development. He reminds of William McKinley.

I think Trump is correct to not release his tax returns now. I wouldn't release them until after the routine IRS audit is done either. If he releases them now, a million left wing accountants will essentially be working for the IRS for free trying to find anything even mildly controversial.

Why give the IRS free help?

You wait until the audit is done and they are given a clear bill of health by the IRS. Then you release them. It's more likely the IRS working alone might miss something that's in a grey area and you can also combat any political attacks against you by pointing to the fact that the IRS signed off.

If he released his tax returns now, I would hold it against him for being stupid.

The only people who want Trump's Tax Returns released are those who want to throw dirt on him.
Trump isn't stupid. He knows that.
The only concern of voters should be: "Is he the best person for the job and can he do it?"

Or a pdf file he called his birth certificate. This has never been certified as a true copy of his birth certificate. Try presenting a pdf file to any gov. agency that ask for your birth certificate and see what happens. Let Trump release a pdf of his tax returns and see what happens.

I have a left wing friend whose specialty is evaluating things like that and she told me the birth certificate is a phony. I have zero knowledge on the subject, but she is bright and definitely biased to the left. So either everyone is FOS or she missed something, but it sure sounded to me like everyone is FOS.

I have a left wing friend who tells me they sometimes encourage birther nonsense just to see how far up their own leg we right wingers want to chew.

Your friend might have taken "past the knee" on an over/under. She might not be your friend. She might not even be human. She could be a CIA plant trying to control your mind.

You can't be too careful. These rabbit holes are dangerous places.

I've known people that try to get at what you are really thinking by pretending to think the opposite of what they really think to see if you let your guard down and admit to something you would otherwise deny.

That's it. Things are getting too complicated for me. I'm not talking to anyone anymore.

I have no problem telling anyone what I think.
Honesty, tactful if need be, is the best policy.
If you tell a lie, you have to live a lie.
Besides, at my age, it takes too much energy to remember that you lied.

Myself I think that it will be close unless she feels the burn by having his support sit at home. Trump's son Don has 5 kids, his youngest son Baron is only 9 years old. Here is the thing, there is nothing Donald J. Trump is going to do that is going to ruin this country for these young Trump's. In fact everything suggests Donald J. Trump will improve and prevent the next meltdown.

Good to see you posting again RG

My life experience is that you never need to trick people into revealing their beliefs- dark, distasteful or otherwise. Any person who ventures into a setting where people feel comfortable in letting down their guard(s) (Exhibit A- a bar ) will hear those opinions loud, clear, frequently and in due course.

You've stated this previously, and it's obviously the right question ... but should I not consider his character when making that judgment? Might the tax returns contradict some of his prior claims? Why is Trump not required to follow the custom of disclosing tax returns? Romney did it, albeit later than needed. Why do Trump supporters hold him to such a low standard? Let's focus on Trump and not deviate to bashing Hillary (I already know her character, or lack thereof).
