Back in the '70s he and his wild characters made my mornings at work bearable as I listened to his WNBC AM broadcast. I feel like another part of me is gone.

Listened to him a lot back in the day. He was a victim of the PC police in later years with some over the line social commentary. RIP.

Yes,Imus in the morning 77WABC provided many colorful moments on my drive to work out too Manhasset on Long Island. A legend is gone -----no one like him.
Good luck to you.

Not at all; sorry you got that impression. It was inappropriate and he got fired for it. I loved his interplay with Charles McCord, who tried to keep him on the staright and narrow.

In spite of his foibles he had great taste in music. Often allowing live acts to take over his show for considerable discussion and music. I hated him at times and admired him at others. A true enigma of a man

One of his regulars was a comedian who did a great Bill Clinton impression. He did a version of the Sonny and Cher song I Got You Babe with the line:
(he) I've got something to tell the Feds
(she) Try it and you'll wind up dead

I had heard of Don Imus for decades but unfortunately he never entered my airwaves.
