Its so strange. The Derby was a 95 Beyer and they adjusted up. Will they do the same thing here? Could this crop be this bad?

It looked to me like the jock really slowed down the pace up the backstretch. I'll have to watch the race again, but that was my impression while watching it live.

You might be able to use race 14 at a mile and 1/16 to compare.
Throw the rest out.
Be damn hard to make an accurate speed figure for this one.

A projected speed rating is probably the way to go.

Yes, the 14th will help, hopefully. Projection on the 13th alone will be a tough read. I at least use pace too, and the pace was very fast.

Smarty's Derby, where it poured just before the race and where they could prep only a little, was slow too?

14th was pretty formful and the time makes a lot of sense compared to the Preakness, it will help.

We know AP pretty well by now. Should be easy to fudge a figure into the ballpark of where his figure belongs.

So true. Unadjusted times mean nothing unless one believes that all tracks are identical under all possible conditions.

Bee Bee Bee and Deputed Testimony both won it on a sloppy track in 1:55 and change.
No problem getting to the half in 46. These horses are bad finishers.
The stretch run at Big Sandy should be fun.

Pimlico's dirt track seemed to have a fairly pronounced tilt favouring frontrunners today.

Long time ago, tracks are much deeper now.
