The Thing They're NOT Saying about American Pharoah
That he is the first horse ever to win the Triple Crown while using Lasix.
Should an "asterisk" be affixed to his Triple Crown win as a result?
Your thoughts.

More like "in spite of using" Lasix.

The only asterisk should be if he was ridden by a 5lb apprentice

I say no because everyone else had Lasix, the asterisk would be used if it was a non level playing field as well cheating, in this case the field was level and no cheating was done to achieve the result.

Horse racing, football, baseball, basketball......how many asterisks do you think we have?
Sports achievements are like sausage - enjoy them and don't ask questions.

Absolutely.
To say nothing about what the others WERE using that AP could not use. And yes, in the 70's many things were legal that no longer are. But let's not go there either.
Tom is right IMO. Sausage anyone ?

I have always heard stories about this horse was on drugs or that horse was on drugs. Every horse from Sir Barton to Affirmed there have been some people who cried they were on drugs. We will never know. I read one idiots post on another site saying "Secretariat was juiced up on Lasix." Please everyone try to find the logic in that statement. I have heard numerous times that Ben and Jimmy Jone's horses were hoped up on Cocaine. Will we ever know? NO! I think we should just sit back and enjoy what is written instead of trying to find out what wasn't. Oh btw ask Dr. Harthill about Northern Dancer and his little bleeding problem. The stories I heard about that man could fill a magazine. (Sports Illustrated 1968 for reference on Bute).

I think that it somewhat indicates that the lasix blabber is mostly hyperventilating by fanatics.

Every sport has its "purists" - baseball, of course, having the most of any sport.
And NYRA is actually dominated by purists - not legalizing Lasix until September of 1995, and not paying even 5th purse money until December of 1994.
NYRA was also last to implement the saddle-towel color scheme - speaking of which, where are the icons for 21 through 24 on here, which have existed for years? Frammento actually sported the 21 in this year's Derby. 16 and 19 have also been changed, 16 now being a lighter shade of blue than 19.
