Having said that its a different era today where numbers and titles are much more important prestige and money wise. To me its a non issue its been done countless times. Whats the difference with bringing in a closer with a three run lead to get three out to compile numbers at the end? Having a guy steal being up 7-0 in the eighth inning?
Besides I think he will be more remembered as the guy who took himself out to win a title not really a good thing. I think he will be remembered more for having a great year when his contract was expiring like so many other athletes.
This is for the CJ's. There was always a rumor that the Orioles held up a game because Ripkin was late arriving to the park. No need to go into the particulars but if its true its never mentioned today.
