How was it unreliable? Trakus are the official times at Santa Anita so I'm genuinely curious what you saw.

Several more errors found at Belmont for the last few weeks of the meet. Seems to be something to do with the 1/4 pole. The 5th race on 10-22 and the 1st and 5th races on 10-30 have Trakus times that differ quite a bit from the official fractions, and again I think Trakus better reflects the real time. The 22nd was a one mile race and the 6f fraction is questionable. The races on the 30th were both 6f and the 1/2 mile is the shaky fraction for both.

It is amazing to me that there are two different timing systems in place and when there are major discrepancies between the two either nobody notices or nobody cares. Handicapping is hard enough without having to play "guess the correct time".

Having to try and retime a race was once in a blue moon it seemed. Now, it's sadly a part of many replay watches

I'm not talking about bettors. I personally don't think there is much value in these errors to be honest, for the most part at least, as the people that bet the real money usually know.

Yeah I was watching that one and the timer malfunctioned, showed a 44 half. The 46+ in the chart is still way, way too fast, no idea who manufactured that one.
IF it were true, the second quarter would be 22.01 and the next quarter in 28.66. No quality control whatsoever as usual, other than knowing the even more ridiculous 44.80 was wrong.

Further, there is no mention of any problem in the chart. The ridiculous time they put in there is just sitting there like it is factual. No mention that it is a hand time or made up or whatever. Total disrespect to bettors IMO.

They removed the half mile fraction from the chart. I suggested they leave it that way but haven't checked to see if they did or not.

I've been seeing more CHART errors lately, meaning
PP4, start 1, 1 by 1, 4th 6 back, 1 by 2, 1 by 1. I don't say a word anymore, just correct it for myself.
The incompetency is awesome.
