the tea party started up over outrageous spending binges like tarp and stimulus and Obamacare, which all added trillions to our debt in just a few years.
now the tea party is to blame for the downgrade? lol.

There has not been one serious idea or offer from the democrats to attack the debt problem. only the bold idea to raise taxes on the wealthy which by itself doesn't fix anything.

Washington is still playing games with things like the 10 year CBO analysis and baseline budgeting, when we need real action, not smoke and mirrors.

Ladies and gentlemen, please fasten you seat belts and make sure your tray tables are in their upright and locked positions.

It's going to be a rough ride today.

Once again my theory is as good as gold. While we waited for Obama to come out of hiding to make his speech (he was almost an hour late), the Dow lost almost 100 points. And DURING his speech, it lost another 50. He is a disgrace. Nothing of substance ever comes out of his mouth. It's always all about blame and it's never his fault. The guy is clueless and anyone who still supports him is even more clueless.

Tarp, which was passed in 2008, is very near to being paid for. Companies which were taken over by the government are now repurchasing their stock and government involvement is rapidly decreasing. This in spite of the foolish fears of socialism heard here and elsewhere.
Stimulus did help the economy for a while. The problem with the stimulus was that it was not sufficiently targeted to job creation.
Obamacare, as you call it, is only marginally in effect. Most of the provisions do not take effect until 2013 or later. It is very doubtful that Obamacare contributed to the debt.

Raising taxes is not the only Democratic plan to deal with the national debt, but it is the best part of their plan. Their are three main factors in the current national debt. Military spending; Social programs and insufficient tax revenues.
Biggest cuts should come in military spending. Cuts in social programs should be limited to eliminating fraud and waste.

Tax rates should return to the rates of the Clinton era and two new bracket should be added: 45% for anyone earning $1m to $5M; 50% for anyone earning over $5M. Close loopholes. Tax capital gains as income. eliminate the cap on Social Security contributions.

Are you bucking for Geitner's job?
You have to be proficient in Turbo Tax, you know.

Face the facts, Obama took a bad economy and made it far worse.

Not close to a TV...so what i heard was that MSNBC Made comments saying that the-OWEBama/Congress were at fault for the downgrade from Standard and Poors.

sick to see the Dems trying to blame the Tea Party, we see the very same tactics on THIS Board.

On page four of the S&P report it says,
Quote:
our revised base case scenario now
assumes that the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts, due to expire by the end of 2012,
remain in place. We have changed our assumption on this because the majority of Republicans in Congress continue to resist any measure that would raise revenues,
One of the major obstacles to an agreement was that the Tea Party refused to consider raising taxes. Democrats were always willing to cut spending. The agreement they finally came up with was insufficient to solve the problem, because it did not raise revenues. Standard and Poors in its report says that the Downgrade occurred because the political system was broken and it had no confidence that Congress and the Administration would be able to work out a solution using the special committee. On page four S&P says that Republicans will continue to resist raising revenues. Throughout the report S&P continues to emphasize the importance of a balanced approach. This is why Democrats and thinking people everywhere blame the Tea Party.

Tom,

I've got three new shovels... I'll hire them right now, suits, ties and all. We
need a new cesspool dug. Of course, they'll get CA minimum wage to start.
If they do a good job and complete the project in two days they'll each get
a two hundred dollar bonus. That's what they're worth and not a penny more.

Save your stock certificates boys, the DJIA might rise again.
