I've accepted that fate as well. What can the industry to fight this happening in other states as PETA will just mobilize in another state. I mean they dog racing shut down in Florida so that state next?

Latest from Paulick on Twitter:

Doesn't sound good.

Racing went all-in on keeping the BC at Santa Anita, and were 10 seconds away from cashing in on that bet. Talk about bad beats.

Another hilarious poster here at PA...that's two...any more?

When exactly, do you think horse racing will be finished in California?

Do "end times" count? If so, you might eventually be correct.

I would personally say sometime around the 2022 primary elections.

We have initiatives, PA, and they are easy to put on the ballot. You don't understand California politics AT ALL if you think this can't happen.

Not saying it CAN'T happen.

Just saying it WON'T.

The modern hard core activists are far worse than the Puritans who killed people they accused of witches.

They ban everything because they think it solves all problems.

The California government and the population of the state is full of them.

The voting population is too stupid to understand they are being fed propaganda. All they see is dead horses and vote on emotion.

The sport is finished in there.

Just as dog racing was banned in Florida. 70% of the voters in the state voted to get rid of it. That includes the 70% of voters in Marion County, the horse capital of the world, who voted to get rid of it.

The very same voters who were asked why, when they support horse racing, would they ban an animal sport. They responded this is different. Dog racing is inhumane, but horse racing isn't. They can't see the forest for the trees.

I give it 5 years before it's banned and the land is sold off to developers.

Why? Your average Californian is either (1) living in the LA or Bay Are, supports animal rights, and thinks we are barbaric, or (2) not living near a racetrack. Nor is there any support among the general public for the breeding and racing industry- that's entirely confined to legislators in Sacramento.

If an initiative were held tomorrow, we'd lose 60-40 or worse.
