Tip for betting Del Mar- Be always aware of the marine layer and wind speed. If marine layer is in, with no wind, track is sticky and favors off-pace or closer types. When marine layer blows out, NOT burns off, and wind speed picks up to 10 MPH or more, track will totally dry out in less than 1/2 an hour, thus becoming instantly speed favoring. Will take a race or two, before maintenance crews finally get out water truck for good soaking.....Weather changes race to race, always be aware.

iWindsurf.com is a pretty reliable source for local wind speeds...or so it proved to be for the 2 tracks here in Chicagoland since O'Hare is quite close to Arlington and Midway is virtually down the street from Hawthorne.Having never been to San Diego, I have no clue how close the airport is to Del Mar but I did use this last season.

Best: Tampa Bay and Belmont. I love Belmont.
Worst: Saratoga, I could not win a walkover at Saratoga.

I second that! (I like both of their tracks)
As far as I'm concerned it's the best racing in the world!
Big fields on every card and lots of great betting opportunities!
Worst has got to be Los Alamitos.
Small fields in every race and the worst betting opportunities anywhere.

I will also add that any track that takes advantage of HD and has high quality camera work, is FUN to watch.
Hate a shaking camera. Stupid trees in the way of the race LOL. Zooming in on one horse on the gallop out.
Love a track with a camera right on the wire. Makes you enjoy the races more.
Plus, hate to say it but I'm starting to like tracks that play some music at 6 MTP

You've seen DMR get more speed favoring w less moisture in surface? Is it possible that just the inside lanes hold a bit of moisture while the track dries out outside to inside? Good post.

Prefer major tracks where my bet doesn't drop odds. In order of preference:
1. AQ Main
2. Belmont
3. GP January 1st through Florida Derby
4. Keeneland
5. Del Mar summer meet
6. Saratoga

Golden Gate - Baze is way overbet a lot of the time and most of the jockeys there can't ride at all. Can find a lot of bad rides that don't necessarily show up in the charts. Closers actually have a chance on this track too.
Santa Anita - Biggest pools, can actually get a nice overlay once in awhile there. Track is rather predictable right now with front end speed winning just about everything on both surfaces.
Saratoga inner turf when firm - Bet the speed! Couple of my biggest scores came off of wire to wire winners on the inner.

I really like betting Keeneland and Saratoga but the meets are to short, so by default I would say Woodbine since its my home track and I do pretty well there, and my least favorite would be the Fairgrounds in Louisiana, their turf course is usually underwater for half the meet and too many chalk winners, or maybe it just seems that way to me. I haven't placed a wager on a race in 2 years at FG.

It used to be Keeneland as it is right down the road from me, but when they changed to the synthetic track I pretty much dropped them all together as I never got the feel. Even now that it has changed back I havent played there much.
For the past 5 years it has been Saratoga, Tampa, Gulfstream and Belmont predominantly. Getting ready to turn 60 and retire from UK and plan on working at Keeneland in Spring and Fall, maybe that will peak my interest in their racing again.
