Baffert Sues Twitter/x Personalities
Since Jill Baffert isn't a party to the litigation, I'm wondering how her conduct and correspondence is relevant.

All you do, is pull up his suspension list, his horse death list, and the case is thrown out.
He is a piece of shit, nothing less, probably a lot more

Part of proving a defamation lawsuit when you are a person in the public eye is proving "actual malice," or malicious intent.
Baffert probably already has that covered by default...

More like 82 confirmed deaths between 2000 to now. There are at least 52 names that are unaccounted for as to what happened to them. Many of those unaccountables are horses that had an uninspiring finish in their last start.

How does that rate per start compared to other trainers?

Isn't defamation similar to slander where it is not slander if true?

Well of course truth is the ultimate defense
But since defamation cases are so hard to win when you're famous like Baffert...one has to think he must have a pretty good belief that he can prove that what was said was indeed false.
Plus he has to prove malicious intent...which I think is an automatic given the personalities involved.

As for Baffert he made a wisecrack to a female friend of my friend's wife whose name I long since forgot who was giving us a back stretch tour. I managed to slip away and and found General Challenge in his stall and went and scratched between the ears and on the nose. This was right before he shipped to CD for the Derby. True he was a gelding, but he still had to be worth a million bucks and I was all alone with him. It was him, not a stunt double. He was a friendly sort.

And I'm no huge fan of Baffert.
People are given wide latitude when making comments about "celebrities" or people very much in the public eye. It's tough to win a defamation lawsuit when you're as famous as Baffert.
However, the extortion thing I think might have legs.

Just because Asaro is on the other side I hope Baffert wins. Baffert lives rent free in Asaro's head.
